I feel left out.

Come on Jon.

Yes, in my opinion he is amazing.

He has put out so much stuff and not all of it is good, but the good stuff is pretty much incredible. I didn't really fully appreciate the guy until I saw him play solo last year at No Fun Fest, and I was converted. I had heard Fushitsusha before, and liked it, seen him play an ill-fitted duo with Tony Conrad and thought it was average - but there was something about his solo performance which completely blew every preconception I had of him into tiny chunks. There was nothing to hold him back, or compromise how far he could go (which I get the impression is a musical concept that Haino doesn't really give a shit about) and it was truly incredible.

I'm constantly checking out as much stuff as I can of his - the benefit of working in a shop with a well stocked Haino section. Fushitsusha's live 2 is one you should check out, and I think you may like Vajra, his group with Kan Mikami. I heard a solo Haino disc on Tzadik the other day which was just percussion and vocals, and I couldn't work out wether I liked it or not...wasn't really prepared for hearing him through the filter of Zorn, and I expected it to be a bit more visceral. Will have to listen to it again.

Either way, he always looks cool as fuck. Visually, him and Merzbow together in a band is the ultimate odd couple of Japanese experimental.
