Tickets: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/218989
Event Page: https://www.facebook.com/events/3000896 … mp;fref=ts
This is what bank holidays are made for! An awe inspiring line up that cannot be beaten in Manchester this May break!!

Uneven Eleven:
Uneven Eleven is set to be the dream team trio of 2013 that will have all the fan boys wetting their pants with anticipation. A high class hook up of three giants of experimental music making, Charles Hayward (drums), Kawabata Makoto (guitar) and Guy Segers (bass) make their live debut on British soil this coming May.

... With the release of Out of Cold Storage box set in 2006, an entirely new generation was introduced to the truly ground-breaking sounds of This Heat, whose vital importance has had a lasting legacy on all things experimental within the independent scene. Since their split in 1982, drummer Charles Hayward has continually been at the forefront of challenging music, with stints in Crass, Bill Laswell's Massacre, his own Camberwell Now collective and a slew of art installation projects. The last few years have seen Hayward focusing on his solo work, which, upon listening, makes it abundantly clear that the innovation inherent in his formative years is still alive and well. A true pioneer in contemporary music making.

Undeniably the godfather of the modern Japanese-psych scene, Kawabata Makoto, founder of ‘soul collective’ Acid Mothers Temple, has been on his own singular journey to redefine the sound of the guitar since the late 70’s. The fluidity of his approach as seen him form atom splitting groups such Mainliner and Musica Transonica, collaborated with acclaimed prog rock legends like Guru Guru and Gong, as well as Richard Youngs, Keiji Haino and Thurston Moore and still find time to spit out top quality solo recordings as well and handling production duties . Not counting over 100 albums with Acid Mothers in their various guises. The wealth of material Kawabata has produced is derivative of his continued search into cosmic realms of music making and their a few, if any, that can channel the ether as this man does. This pathetique summary does on just to the mans terrifyingly prolific career.

Guy Segers will be known to most for his inclusion in the classic line-up of famed Rock In Opposition group Univers Zero, whose deft blend of pitch-black chamber music and avant-rock styling’s is still as innovative today some 30 years on since the original albums were issued. Continuing to defy expectations of the format throughout his career, Seger’s and has made an indelible impact on the pantheon of progressive music, honing his craft is ensembles such as Present, Emergent Sea and AcidMothersGuruGuruGong.

The breadth of experience between these three men is astonishing and the potential for the music this trio will make limitless.. Baring witness to them calling forth this knowledge is an opportunity that cannot be missed.

------------------------------
Arabrot:
Our Norwegian brothers return for a 3rd outing in Manchester care of the Fat Controllers. It seems each time they’ve played the more maniacal the crowd response has been. Fittingly named after a waste dump outside the small west-Norwegian town of Haugesund, Arabrot are the sonic embodiment of the stygian filth that festers within it. The dirge of sludge metal is reduced down to murderous shards of noise-rock minimalism that alludes to Shellac covering The Melvins. Boasting a thunderous rhythm section that barely can contain the mayhem, seared by scathing guitar lines and caustic, tortured vocals, Arabrot may be heavy on the malice, but they’re definitely heavier on the groove… and 400 times louder, dirtier and more disgustingly heavy in the flesh.
http://soundcloud.com/arabrot
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfS24yu_Wj8
-------------------------------

The Death of Her Money:
Arguably Fat Out’s house band, The Death of Her Money’s musical journey first started in the mire of post-Sludge scene. So infectious were the Cardiff trio’s riffs that we had to keep asking them back. Every time we’d listen to them, we’d fine something more unique in their sound; the hypnotic simplicity of the rhythm section masked the subtle finesse and intuition of their playing, with little pockets of glorious sound being revealed only after repeated listens. It’s a similar intuition that have seen the boys refract from their original soundpool, bringing to the fore the shoegaze and British darkwave/gothic influences that had always been buried in the crushing, drugged riffage. Perhaps one of the only bands left in the country making this sound their own, sidestepping the Isis/Neurosis identikit clichés to create a more panoramic view of heavy music that now feels insulting to just label metal.
http://thedeathofhermoney.bandcamp.com/ … -are-loved
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtKOcVvg14Y
--------------------------------

Dead Sea Apes:
Manchester journeymen Dead Sea Apes have been quietly and meticulously working on their slow blossoming ode to the sand dunes for over half a decade, a commitment that has allowed the trio to become masterful in creating huge vistas of sound. Managing to be reduce down the finest components of psychedlia, garage rock fuzz and raga infused improvisation, DSE use the motoric groove of classic kraut to extrapolate and unearth hidden gems within and expose them to the listener with a precision that can either lull them into a trance of have the climbing the walls in-tune their crescendoing guitars.
http://deadseaapes.bandcamp.com/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKOJDB0q4p4

-------------------------------

Astma:
The duo with Olga Nosova (drummer and vocalist mostly known for her work with Moscow fusion band "Syncopated Silence" and post-punk band "Motherfathers") is one of the latest projects of veteran of Russian industrial/electronic/free improv scene Alexei Borisov and noticeably very fast-developing - their mind-boggling and powerful music is already highly acclaimed among the music lovers not only in Russia, but around the world!
The collaborative project was formed in April 2009 in Moscow. Paying homage to both experimental tradition of Alexei's countless musical reincarnations and Olga's instrumental experience, the duo embrace elements of weird free-form spoken word psychedelia, live electronics, minimalism, free jazz, noise, heavy acid, electroacoustic, dub and far too many different types of acoustic torture to even bother mentioning all of them!

http://vimeo.com/41387029

The Audacious Art Experiment - 10th Anniversary - Sheffield - 31/5-1/6

Behold. Our little baby Audacious has finally grown up and reached its 10th Birthday. In celebration of this we will be throwing a weekend party in the only way we know how - by putting on as many bands as possible in various awesome locations in the fair city of Sheffield.

Event - https://www.facebook.com/events/5013451 … 1/?fref=ts

The first of which will be held at our beloved HQ and will feature a selection of in house bands and pals, who have not only played and practiced there over the last year, but helped to develop the space into the thriving community womb it is today.

Friday 31st May @ Audacious Space, Harwood Street.

8pm - late

CONFIRMED BANDS SO FAR

AMOROUS DIALOGUES
TRANS/HUMAN
SPANDRIL

+ more tbc

FREE ENTRY/DONATIONS

--------------------------------------

The second and most important event brings together the cream of the current DIY music scene, as well as some very special surprises along the way. All of the label's recent bands will be in attendance, as well as those that have been involved over most of the last decade. The show will be in one of CADS' many legendary warehouse spaces in the city centre.

Saturday 1st June @ CADS Venue, Sidney Street.

2pm - late featuring

CONFIRMED BANDS SO FAR

ZA! (Barcelona)
Two people in front of your eyes, yet a transoceanic, futuristically primitive orchestra in your ears. Spazzfrica Ehd & Papa duPau, the duet from Barcelona known as ZA!, keep on their post-world music conquest with their best album so far: WANANANAI. The instruments are numerous: drums, guitar, keyboard, trumpet, voices, sampler, percussion. All processed through many analog effects, recorded live loops, and played just by 2 people: Spazzfrica Ehd (drums, keyboard, percussion, voice) & Papa duPau (guitar, trumpet, sampler, voice). Always acclaimed by their intense, ever-changing live sets, unrelenting and rhythmically wicked music hard to label: Battles being more organic, Lightning Bolt being more harmonic, Animal Collective being more aggressive, Steve Reich being less serious.

www.facebook.com/putosza

GUM TAKES TOOTH

Opposing drummers ignite a dense, focussed rhythm engine to propel thunderous evolving acid synth and refracted vocal manipulations as motorik astrally projected drive-trains thrust through haunted subterranean soundscapes into epic swathes of crushing synth riffing heavy enough to compete with any de-tuned guitar monster.

http://www.gumtakestooth.com/

JAMES JOYS

Residing in Newcastle, James uses keys, drum and software technology to create incredibly dense ambient electronic soundscapes. The pace ebbs and flows from techno to light noise, then towards bass heavy future soul and back round again to the eerie drones of your favourite David Lynch movie. A producer by day but bold enough to take it out into the live realm at night, with inspired and unpredictable results. We're excited to be bringing him down this way for what we know will be a truly memorable late night performance.

http://jamesjoys.bandcamp.com/

NOPE
Featuring members of That Fucking Tank, Hookworms, Mucky Sailor, NOPE deploy rhythm, repetition, drones, double-drumming and big riffs to hypnotic head-nodding effect occupying the musical territory between minimalist Krautrock, psychedelic shoegaze and fist-pumping noise and alternative hard rock.

http://obscenebabyauction.bandcamp.com/album/revision

COWTOWN
An ever evolving post-punk three piece from LEEDS consisting of Jonathan Nash on guitar/vocals (RUNNERS/NOPE/HOOKWORMS), David Michael Shields on drums (MONSTER KILLED BY LASER) and founding member Hilary Knott on synthesizers/vocals.

http://cowtown.bandcamp.com/

BLOOD SPORT
After releasing their first tape with us well over a year ago, Blood Sport have knocked out a string of releases that continues to see them develop their own brand of Aggrobeat even further. Blending Afro beat and soft techno rhythms with twisted post punk vocals and wandering underwater guitar lines, Blood Sport are in a world of their own and they want to take you there.

http://bloodsport.bandcamp.com/

EX EASTER ISLAND HEAD
A Liverpool based ensemble composing and performing music for solid-body electric guitar, percussion and other instruments. Ex-Easter Island Head have been making waves in the music and art scene over the last year, with their prepared guitar technique and rhythmic arrangements akin to Rhys Chatham and Steve Reich, mixed with melancholic and atmospheric soundscapes of their own concoction.

http://www.exeasterislandhead.com/

WOODERSON
The darling buds of Audacious return after a short break, in which Loic went to South America and concentrated on growing his hair. There's not much we can say about Wooderson these days, only that we love them and their perfect brand of Dischord pumped post punk and we'll continue to do so until the world stops spinning.

http://wooderson.bandcamp.com/

ELK
Glenn and Ritch (formally of Andy, Glenn And Ritch) and their friend Tom have been involved in the Audacious family since school. Their blend of complex yet melodic indie emo still as vital as it was 10 years ago. Elk released the 'Return To Sender' EP with us a year back now but shows have been few and far between. Making their inclusion in this pretty darn special for us.

http://thebandelk.bandcamp.com/

+ more TBC

Advance tickets = £10, £12
It will be more on the door.

Tickets available here - http://tickets.partyforthepeople.org.uk/events/62

The entire festival is being run by people who provide such events, not only in their spare time, but in time carved out from the normal rhythm of 9 to 5 or self employed existence.

The Audacious Art Experiment is a non for profit arts collective and all money generated on the day will go to the bands who have traveled and the people who rely on sound engineering for a living wage.

As well as celebrating the exist of our label, the entire weekend is dedicated to our founder Ben Lane, who we lost far too early in November 2004. An opinion always missed, a character made immortal in his own words.

"Crystalised forever, in our romantic imagination".

Ben Lane Forever.

www.theaudaciousartexperiment.com
