Re: Edinburgh

Messaged you my address on Facebook, Owen.

Note annoyingly isn't answering the phone. I shall persevere.

Re: Edinburgh

Cheers!

Naw... same idea?

Oh, so, so much more. My first hardcore band played with them and the Newtown Grunts at the Tap in 97, the spastics split up with a fight mid-set. A set which included such classics as "paedophile priest" with the chorus "Paedo Priest, What a beast!".

Harbour in Edinburgh will likely be at the Banshee, combining with the eagulls/sam barrett gig.

Sweeet! Time off work sorted, this should be great.

Then back down south for Lich and Man Hands on Sunday.

Re: Edinburgh

Nice one! I made up a few screen prints of the poster, they aren't the best but they're free! So pick one up on the night if you want.

Re: Edinburgh

Atomgevitter, Tree of Sores Gin Goblins plus some other Edinburgh bands at Bannermans, friday 18th March, £5 in, its a benefit gig for Colin to help him afford an electric chair for getting about the house, starts at 8pm, be there!

Re: Edinburgh

Clocked Out are playing too

Re: Edinburgh

Is there anything good (doesn't have to be music) going on in Edinburgh in the second week of July?

Re: Edinburgh

just ahead of festival time, but there should still be plenty on.
maybe a bit early for some listings, but check up on:

http://www.list.co.uk/
(bigger shows, non-music stuff etc, Red Raw Comedy night at the stand is usually worth a shot, plenty of exhibitions will be on)

http://www.cappunishment.org/
(local music board, nothing I can spy at the moment but if there's any decent gigs on they'll appear here)

This is really helpful. Thank you. I shall look forward to my couple of days there next week.

Bong
Newcastle’s drone heathens will be making a one off return to Scotland this July at Sneaky Pete’s. As seen opening for the likes of Sunn O))) at Stereo and performances at Supersonic, Roadburn and Kraak festivals headlining various gigs around the UK, respectively. Expect tantric low end vibrations and invocations from one of the heaviest live bands in the UK. With a "real" penchant for the sticky stuff, Bong are equal parts drone metal as they are eastern mystics, as seen with their heavy use of delayed sitar mixed with crushing doom dynamics, all wrapped in an occult cloak of sensimilla.

Fordell Research Unit (TBC)
Dronemeister General, Fordell Research Unit will be invoking the spirit of Phillip K. Dick and the Theatre of Eternal Music via beer soaked equipment and blood shot vision. Heavy static and spiritual drone by way of Oxgangs – swamping and all encompassing.

Sunsmasher
Glasgow’s answer to the likes of Grief, Buzzoven and Eyehategod and one of the most exciting live bands in the country. Pulverising ASBO-sludge with a three way vocal assault and a taste for buckie-fueled misery. Sunsmasher, ya bas!

Saturday July 23rd,
7pm Doors. £6 entry.
Sneaky Pete's, Cowgate, Edinburgh

Re: Edinburgh

Still undecided. Keen, obviously, but I'm an absolute shell of a person just now. We shall see.

Re: Edinburgh

Monday is the 11th. I'm going to be there from 12th-13th - are there any decent galleries...and any particularly good places to eat near the centre of town?

Re: Edinburgh

Ah, so it is. Sunday 10th, then.

Re: Edinburgh

What sort of food do you like? Spoilt for choice man.

Three I really like:

Kampong Ah Lee (28 Clerk Street) does Malaysian stuff, pretty cheap, dead nice. http://www.list.co.uk/place/101344-kamp … n-delight/

Mother's Kitchen (77 Nicolson Street) really nice curry, great value.

Meadowood Cafe  (15 Bread Street) great chinese soup noodles, bento boxes, etc. Be warned though, its just a wee family run thing so the service can be kinda slow if they're busy, but worth the wait.

Re: Edinburgh

I ended up being cooked for and taken to a really nice veggie restaurant near the centre of town but all of those restaurants sound amazing, so I will visit on my return.

Edinburgh is a great city. Well done.

Re: Edinburgh

Am in town for the fringe. Any decent gigs (the sort of stuff that isn't listed in the festival guide) over the next week or so?

3 parts beer, 1 part gin (lemon for the ladies) - mine's a pint of BIN!

Re: Edinburgh

Give www.cappunishment.org/forums a look.

Re: Edinburgh
