Same as above - but now with psych/kraut rock disco!

SANDRO PERRI // DEAD RAT ORCHESTRA // MANTLER + Mick 'The Hippy' Newman's psych/kraut rock disco!

Colchester Arts Centre - (Tomorrow) 6th July - £6 - Doors 8pm

http://www.colchesterartscentre.com/gig … ra-mantler

https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=174170499302976

Sandro Perri: Solo experimental folk dude signed to Constellation Records (Canadian Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Silver Mt. Zion etc. champs)

The Dead Rat Orchestra are bloody incredible, and they're set is really what the show is all about. Absolutely amazing, adventurous experi-folk; using voice, violin, strange instruments and complete non-instruments to create startlingly original and beautiful music. Fresh from a Canadian tour, and a string of dates supporting Godspeed.

Mantler is like Harmar Superstar's cooler, laid back brother. He plays a Wurlitzer, keyboards and a drum machine. And if three bands aren't enough to entice you - Mick 'The Hippy' Newman will be playing his carpet bag, after-show psychedelic kraut rock disco!

Re: East Anglia (Norwich, Ipswich, Colchester, Cambridge)

Norwich has some really cool things happening at the moment. My friend Dan is now putting on a weekly punk clubnight at Karma Kafe every Wednesday (sounds shit, I know) For the launch we had Sundials (USA), Caves & Big Success (formerly MEN) all playing followed by djs untill 3 and it all panned out really nicely! Got some good shows lined up for later dates aswell including The Riot Before, OTDH etc etc

Dan works super hard and has help create such a lovely scene in Norwich these past couple of years, you just have to look a bit harder for it

Anyone able to keep us in the loop with gigs in Cambridge again? Just moved back, might go and check out Model Village at the Portland Arms on Friday.

Most Cambridge gigs get posted on http://www.wereallneighbours.co.uk/ and almost all DIY, etc stuff happens at the Portland Arms. Check out www.bad-timing.co.uk for a lot of skronky electronic stuff. Quite a few of the more 'punk' gigs only seem to be on Facebook in terms of online info, which is a shame.

Re: East Anglia (Norwich, Ipswich, Colchester, Cambridge)

Sunday 29th Jan - Digger Barnes, Sam Russo (and friends) and Jimmy Islip (That Fucking Tank/The Magnificent/Milloy) @ The Portland Arms

Thursday 16th Feb - Bangers, Big Success, S.H Davidson (Tellison solo) @ The Portland Arms

Looks like Thursday is the new weekend here.  Be nice to see plenty of folks at these

Re: East Anglia (Norwich, Ipswich, Colchester, Cambridge)

Since I moved out of London I can't figure out if there is a scene in or around Essex, especially once I get round to starting / joining another band.

Punks never grow old, they just stagedive a bit more carefully.

Re: East Anglia (Norwich, Ipswich, Colchester, Cambridge)

Last-minute gig in Cambridge.

Leatherface, this Friday at the Portland Arms. Support from We The Drowned and 7 Day Conspiracy. Info only seems to be on Facebook, as I hinted at a few posts earlier. https://www.facebook.com/events/261767077227902/

Re: East Anglia (Norwich, Ipswich, Colchester, Cambridge)

Thanks for that, I fucking love Leatherface and probably would have missed that announcement otherwise.

Model Village were cool, I could hear bits of Buffalo Tom and Pogoh in there somewhere.

Listening to new Mend This Tear tunes, stoked on East Anglia once more.

Re: East Anglia (Norwich, Ipswich, Colchester, Cambridge)

The April 2nd gig isnt gonna be All Eyes West anymore, but its now going to be THE AMISTAD from Sheffield.  I love this band, they play Leatherface/Hot Water Music esque gruff punk but with cutting northern wit and intelligence.  I'm looking for some bands to support, if you want to play, get in touch please!
