yeah, only recently heard it but it's amazing. just loads of DIY home studio soul stuff when people first had access to things like drum machines and synths. so many unique sounds. the songs are genuinely good in themselves too.

Re: Electronic Music

really big into that album too

Re: Electronic Music

loving the new Pantha Du Prince record. sounds quite a bit different. lots of intricate bell type sounds.

Re: Electronic Music

Been listening to the new Autechre record a lot but it's the first I've heard of them. Any suggestions on where to go backwards would be appreciated, as well as similar names. No artist will be too obvious I'm fairly ignorant.

Re: Electronic Music

Squarepusher (an obvious one maybe)
a friend at work got me into him. Last album is great but I especially like Just A Souvenir which is kind of like Chicago mathrock (lots of live bass and drums) sped up a bit with some bleeps over the top

Re: Electronic Music

I'm only just getting into Autechre myself so I can't help but if you search "full album" on youtube they are all up there.

This is pretty funny http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autechre#Pronunciation I always pronounce their name in an unconvincing northern accent now.

Re: Electronic Music

I like the new Autechre record although it's a bit too long. Check out LP5, and I quite liked Oversteps although lots of people disagree.

Re: Electronic Music

more trendy modern house stuff. rocky relationship with some of the ghostly international stuff but this is pretty good. on the subject of trendy stuff right now, really want to hear the lapalux debut full-length.

Re: Electronic Music

There's a new Total Life record out now Growing have stopped, if you like drone I guess.

Did anyone manage to pick up that Pye Corner Audio tape on Tapeworm? Don't have a tape player so i've been looking for a rip.

Also how good was that Actress 12" that was released a while ago. Rhetorical.

Been listening to lots of shameless 80s retro stuff recently.  These are pretty cool.

Re: Electronic Music

Have you heard the new Autre Ne Veut record? It's pretty good and along those lines, released on their record label:

Midi Drift is a great song! Still love it.

Re: Electronic Music

I've been digging this obscure bit of weirdness, reissued on Digitalis:

Re: Electronic Music

not exactly 'music' but irdial just put out a new edition of the conet project which is as good a reason as any to listen to it. if you haven't heard of it, it's a collection of recordings from unidentified numbers stations sending out mysterious shortwave communications. ranges from everything to modulated voices, radiophonics, music passages and sometimes just noise. wilco named 'yankee hotel foxtrot' after a clip from the conet project. you can listen to the whole thing on soundcloud (https://soundcloud.com/the-conet-projec … et-project) or download the entire thing in mp3 form as irdial have a free music share policy (http://irdial.hyperreal.org/the%20conet%20project/)

Re: Electronic Music

Autre Ne Veut album is good. kind of crazy that it's just released on a small label. it sounds ludicrously professionally produced.

Re: Electronic Music

giving it a go right now, it's very hip (or what i assume is hip). quite like it though i think.

Re: Electronic Music

one track off of demdike's inaugural release for the new testpressings label. might actually be the best demdike stare thing i've heard, total jungle vibes. amped to see what else this label's gonna put out

Re: Electronic Music

Holy fuck!! that's good.

Re: Electronic Music

new Cafe Kaput album is really good. it's him what does Advisory Circle. it's pretty much an attempt at doing library synth music - http://cafekaput.bandcamp.com/album/app … nce-nature

unsurprisingly it's done really well

The Ex-Emeralds, Outer Space thing is really good. Klaus Schulze(y)

Re: Electronic Music

Can anyone recommend anything close to the coked up sounds of Suicide? Must feature vocals, no samples and be from the mid 80s or before. Double time hi-hats a plus.

I have never really heard anything close, although Rob T played me the JJ Burnel first lp the other day, which was moving in the right direction.

I'm not into that.
