Topic: Worthing - record stores/stuff to do?

Going down to Worthing soon to see some family, just wondering if anyone has any record stores or other stuff to check out (arcades/pinball are very much of interest to me) - cheers!

Don't think there are any record stores in Worthing these days - you'd need to head to Brighton for those.

But plenty of arcades on the pier and seafront there - can't judge quality of machines available as a very long time since I went. Again, Brighton has loads more.

Yeah, so overall advice would be: plan a day trip to Brighton.

Type 40 Toys if you are into collectibles, film memorabilia and er... toys. Nice guy runs it and reasonable prices. I have picked up some Gremlins gems.

last time I went there he had a Anarcho Punk collection + a few other bits

there was also a market place right of the pier (looking out at the sea) that had a bunch of old Metal LP's but at top Discogs prices

on eastenders recently two characters moved to worthing, and they were saying to some other characters that it's got a cafe, pier and some good slot machines!

Re: Worthing - record stores/stuff to do?

when i saw the thread title asking what to do in Worthing, my first thought was literally '...go to Brighton' as Worthing is a place with not much going on 'culturally'.

nevertheless, the train of thought emporium (couple of minutes from the main train station) is worth visiting for a browse, loads of old/weird stuff to look through and you'll probably turn up something interesting (I found a London Posse 12", Fall of Because lp, some stuff on Hospital Productions, books on Creation Press)..... but I mean most of it is ancient reggae and the usual second hand record shop fare.

there actually IS a decent record shop, called MUSIC MANIA, along the seafont & near the town centre. have found all sorts there before (from sonic youth live bootlegs to old crass vinyl to venom picture discs), I think you'll turn something up if you look long enough....

and yeah, just go on the pier to see what the Worthing arcade scene can offer.

i am a sick man... i am an spiteful man. i am an unattractive man. i believe my liver is diseased.
