Re: Let's talk about video games

Saw the humble bundle sale and decided i'm gonna play through all the Deus Ex games again as prep for the new one. All of them are available here for £5.70:

https://www.humblebundle.com/store/prom … quareenix/

The new Ratchet and Clank game is incredibly fun, finished it all in the last weekend.

And I accidentally bought a Nintendo Wii (£18 from CEX, bargain) so i could replay the Super Mario Galaxy games again as i've had a real hankering for good platformers recently...

Re: Let's talk about video games

Ratchet and Clank is wicked! Humour is a bit grating but it looks great and plays great and pretty much nothing like this at the moment!

Re: Let's talk about video games

Yeah I was having a conversation with a guy at work about how few genuinely good platform games there are, which is weird because they're so popular and so good when done right. Maybe nobody thinks they can live up to Mario 64.

But Ratchet and Clank is amazing. I have to admit I skipped all the cutscenes so didn't really notice the humour and made the mistake of getting the RYNO before the final boss on my first playthrough which made it completely trivial. But am playing through again on challenge mode now.

Re: Let's talk about video games

Also is anyone else playing the Overwatch beta this weekend? I had a couple of games and it's pretty good casual fun. DM me your battle.net names if you fancy some games tomorrow night!

If you have access to a 360 or XBONE and haven't already played it - hugely recommend Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts.

Also - ex Rare folk who made Banjo Kazooie are making new game Youka Laylee about two animals, one who wears the other in a back pack who do platforming in colourful cartoon environments.

Cheers! Haven't played a Banjo Kazooie since the N64 one...  I've been rinsing Super Mario Galaxy again, nearly finished and ready to move onto 2..

Weirdly Kill Screen wrote a really good (slightly pretentious!) article after I posted (coincidentally) that pretty much sums up my thoughts on it!

Re: Let's talk about video games

has anyone else been buying the sega soundtracks that data discs have been releasing? they aren't cheap, but the presentation is excellent and, to my knowledge at least, it's the first time a lot of them have been readily available on vinyl: http://data-discs.com/collections/all

so far it's been a nice mixture of classics like the first two streets of rage games and others that i wasn't too familiar with like super hang-on and shinobi iii. outrun and the first panzer dragoon game are also in the pipeline which i'm looking forward to.

Re: Let's talk about video games

I have! Only Streets of Rage though at the moment, but my copy of 2 arrived today!

Re: Let's talk about video games

gotten probably a third of the way ds3 - slow going as i'm just super busy right now, but it's truly amazing. such a step up from ds2 and actually recaptures the same spirit as the original which i thought they'd never manage again. it's absolutely stunning visually as well.

quite tempted to pick up uncharted 4 when i have time - looks pretty damn impressive.

Re: Let's talk about video games

DUSKERS - wherein you pilot drones using a command prompt in order to salvage derelict ships in deep space. The whole thing has this amazing retrofuturist vibe to it. So far so good!

Re: Let's talk about video games

Just a heads up to say Limbo is free on Steam at the moment. If you haven't played it you should, it's brilliant.

It's the celebrate the release of their new game Inside next week which looks similarly amazing. I feel like someone in here posted the trailer before?

Also nothing at E3 really grabbed me. The new VR Resident Evil looks pretty great but loads of people said they threw up because of motion sickness because of it. Was there anything I really missed?

Re: Let's talk about video games

yeah, i put up a vid for inside a while back.

limbo is neat. i had to use a walkthrough to beat it but i think it is worth playing through. interesting ending...

outrun comes out next month too! big_smile

i bought edge for the first time in years to read the preview on the last guardian. hopefully i'll be able to borrow a friend's PS4 to play it when it releases. at this point, i feel like i should just wait and buy the "neo." i also wanna play the second nier game, but that isn't out until early next year anyway.

the new zelda game looked amazing as well. granted, i thought the same thing about the last one and ended up being super disappointed. my track record for these kinds of things hasn't been great lately (skyward sword, ni no kuni, xenoblade chronicles x).

Re: Let's talk about video games

I'm really enjoying Deus Ex, although it's taking me forever because I have an obsessive need to explore every single room and crevice  and hack everything.

I loved Inside, although it was quite short.

Also is anyone playing Overwatch? It's really really great. If anyone wants to play lmk.

Re: Let's talk about video games

johnbear has it i believe, have to say i thought it was the worst fps i've played in a long time. i may just be a grumpy old shit though.

Re: Let's talk about video games

yeah i picked it up earlier this week for quite cheap off cdkeys - it's perfect for me, came out of a big Destiny and then Division phase where I was just getting more and more frustrated that because I didn't have hours and hours to pour into it, I was getting left behind/being a bit useless when playing with friends.

Overwatch is just pick up and play, nicely balanced, doesn't require you to be pinpoint accurate, more just know the heroes/maps and how they can overcome other strategies used by the other team - it's kind of like if Nintendo tried to make a class based multiplayer FPS (and had the first idea about making a modern internet multiplayer game). So far I'm loving McCree quite a bit.

Did an interview with Drool about their game THUMPER - that will most certainly feature on my Games of the Year, alongside Titanfall 2 and Hitman.
