79RS GANG -  Dead and Gone / Wrong Side Of Town 7"  (The coming together of two of the big Mardi Gras Indian crews in New Orleans - the 9th Ward Hunter Gang and the Black Eagles Gang - here we have an absolutely perfect 7".  Just heavy percussion and chanting on two killer tracks.  Mississippi highly recommends checking out this unique single.  ) 8.00

NEON - Neon / Nazi Schatzi 7“ (Lost Swiss Punk Treasure! Two Song 7”EP by all female foursome NEON. The band featured Astrid Spirig (vocals), Dagmar Heinrich (guitar), Loredana Zandonella (bass), and Gitta Gsell (drums). Astrid was the third singer of LILIPUT and sang on both LILIPUT full length LP’s. NEON practiced for 6 months and wrote 6 songs. They played their first gig on Nov 1st 1978 at the Club Hey in Zurich. In December of that year, a live performance on Swiss television took place for a program about "women in show business.” The band wasn’t happy with the experience and disbanded a few months later only performing a handful of gigs.  Fast forward to 2016, Dagmar finds an old cassette at her home with the recordings of the two songs "Neon" and "Nazi Schatzi." These were produced for the ill-fated television appearance and are the only recorded NEON songs in existence. Covers and inserts printed by Stumptown Printers.) 8.00

LP

AFOUS D’AFOS - tenere LP (sahel - Six piece Tuareg rock outfit from Southern Algeria. Hands down the most famous Tuareg band listened to across the diaspora, though unknown in the West. An independent album, recorded and produced in-country without the mediation of the world music industry. Classic rock aesthetic, soulful ballads and polished uptempo driving electric guitar rhythms, with a myriad of global influences from pitch bending North African synth, reverbed drenched dub, and even Indian Tabla! One of the most complex studio albums from any Tuareg guitar band to date. Plays best in a Landcruiser, blasting across the open desert. Limited edition, old school 3-color offset sleeves.) 20.00

DEAD REGISTER - Fiber LP (throne - Forged within the Do It Yourself and hard work ethos, Atlanta’s DEAD REGISTER have accomplished a never-before dreamt blend of Dead Can Dance, Godflesh, Swans, Isis and Fields Of The Nephilim. Yet managing to sound unique and sublime, a delicatessen craft of their own.) 13.00

DEAD MOON - What A Way To See the Old Girl Go LP (voodoo donuts -  Portland, Oregon, garage punk heroes, Dead Moon close down a legendary all-ages club. The night is August 16, 1994. A few songs into an already cathartic set, marked by the themes of an ending epoch and an inevitable changing-of-the-guards, Toody Cole remarks to the crowd, "What a way to see the old girl go!" The old girl is the venue-the black velvet painting-decorated X-Ray Cafe-, which helped spawn the careers of venerated Portland acts such as Quasi, The Dandy Warhols and Elliott Smith. A great live recording capturing the full power of of Dead Moon!  ) 18.00

DESPERATE BICYCLES - Singles LP  (non profit - Fanclub edition collecting all the 7"s. Get it while you can) 20.00

EL ALTAR DEL HOLOCAUSTO - She LP (throne -El Altar Del Holocausto (spanish for Altar Of Holocaust) is a mysterious spanish order of Templars playing music to transcend with, by means of a very personal brew of instrumental Post-Rock and atmospheric doomy Post-Metal. El Altar Del Holocausto is most probably the hardest working D.I.Y. band I’ve ever seen coming out from Spain. More than a hundred shows (booked mostly by themselves) and three CD releases (done everything by themselves too, from the artwork to releasing and distribution), and their best is yet to come!) 13.00

ELOISE DECAZES & ERIC CHENAUX - la bride LP (we are - What do we find here? Ten new songs from old times, reimagined from top to bottom, arranged with equal parts madness and precision. One dies always and often in the rolling waves and riptides of these songs without refrain. You can only love furiously and you lose yourself almost everywhere. One hears vicious tales sung in a language characterized by insane turns of phrase. Animals have the word and the forest frightens to death, children make love, and if fathers die by the swords of their sons, it is well deserved. But Eloïse Decazes, more dancer than actress, more visual artist than storyteller, more musician than anything else, does not embellish the literal, never dramatizes her narratives, preferring to blow her melodies like glass or scrub and distill them to limestone and chalk, seeking air in the wooly outlines of verses. Her voice like dawn and her curious formations accompanied by the multiple sonic stances of Chenaux are like myriad flares that inscribe a ballet of shadows and lights in the dark material of the themes, very slow and very beautiful. One hears these firmly unstable arpeggios played on nylon strings that interwoven patterns of electric guitar come to disturb or even liquefy like waves. It is comprised of surprises and conflicting emotions. Furthermore, we are stunned by the way this curious album sometimes induces vertigo, with its vocal majesty and fake crawling violins, its harmonic suicides and misleading solos; how handily it subverts its forms, but without fuss, with kindness and in the utmost calm. Let us be clear: La bride is not folk music, nor even so-called traditional music. It is an album of new music dreamt and conceived from very old melodies, an observation testified to by its production - all in shifting stereo - its soft psychedelia, a dialogue with a certain intrepid modernity (Monk, Cage, Derek Bailey and the "Obscure" records of Brian Eno are all visible from here), the love of inquiry and peregrinations for a present that is ceaselessly renewed.) 20.00

FLETCHER TUCKER - cold spring LP (gnomlife - Cold Spring is an artifact of Fletcher Tucker's deep inhabitation of Big Sur, California. Recorded gradually over the course of four years, songs were gathered on cloud-hidden peaks, wrung out from moss, and received while splitting wood, pushing through brush, and making camp. These recordings serve as trails, leading deep into a mythopoetic backcountry where forgotten mysticism and abandoned ancestral knowledge resurface. In arranging the soundscapes of Cold Spring, Tucker took inspiration from Gregorian chants, Shakuhachi (zen flute) compositions, ancient Chinese paintings of mountains and mist, and of course the landscape of Big Sur itself. Analog synthesizers surge like storm-swollen creeks. A 110-year-old pump organ rumbles up from the depths of a ravine. Drones from 12-string electric guitars flicker like torchlight. Distinct aural-textures – buzzing rosined bows, resonant bells, trembling leaf rattles – punctuate the sound-world of Cold Spring. Ethereal harmonies by Molly Erin Sarlé (of Mountain Man) drift above Tucker's dark baritone. In Tucker's words, "Cold Spring is an invitation to draw the blade of your mind across a whetstone of mythos and song. To hone your awareness of the uncanny, sense into the liminal, and awake within a vast atavistic wilderness.“ Cold Spring is the first LP released by Fletcher Tucker under his own name. Tucker created five full-length albums and several EPs under the project name Bird By Snow (the last, Offering, was released in 2012). Tucker has performed on and produced records by Little Wings, Fountainsun, and Daniel Higgs. He is also the founder of Gnome Life Records.) 20.00

GHOST BATH - Starmourner DLP (Where Ghost Bath's critically acclaimed "Moonlover" album (the first part of a trilogy) explored melancholy, sorrow, earth, purgatory & tragedy, their new opus "Starmourner" focuses on joy, the cosmos, paradise & ecstasy. With over 72 minutes of heavy, melodic, and dramatic Black Metal, it is Ghost Bath's most ambitious undertaking yet. The album takes its listener on a journey in a variety of ways. Each track is accompanied by a beautifully crafted painting as well as a "parable" to read alongside. This allows the listeners to explore not only the audio soundscapes, but also to have a visual and imaginative experience as they delve into the album. "The stories, or parables, look into Jewish angelology and the hierarchy of angels as found in the bible and other religious texts." says Nameless. "Although the album has a definitive joyful and hopeful feel, it is still drenched in depression and sorrow, as any true Ghost Bath record should be.“ The European pressing is released by Northern Silence, the North American pressing by Nuclear Blast) 25.00

HELLO SHARK - Delicate LP (orindal - Hello Shark’s Lincoln Halloran has the knack for making the most crushing verses feel heartwarming, simply because his eloquent expression raises the awareness that another human has experienced a similar feeling. September’s Delicate is Hello Shark’s first proper LP, and it promises to introduce Halloran and his introspective musings aptitude to brand new audiences.) 19.00

HERETOIR - The Circle DLP ( full five years after the release of their successful debut album, during which the band played numerous gigs alongside acts such as Agalloch, Alcest, Dornenreich, Eluveitie, God is an Astronaut, Graveworm, Katatonia, Secrets of the Moon and Sólstafir, their much anticipated second album “The Circle” is finally set to be released in March 2017. “The Circle” deals with the cycle of life, death and rebirth. Interweaving crushing heaviness and atmospheric dreaminess, the album portrays a deeply emotional journey – a life dedicated to the sun and to freedom. Besides another very special coverart by Fursy Teyssier, the album furthermore features guest vocals by none other than Alcest mastermind Stéphane “Neige” Paut, and was mastered by well known sound engineer Lasse Lammert.) 25.00

JACKIE O MOTHERFUCKER - Flags Of the Sacred Harp DLP (textile - Flags of the Sacred Harp, originally released in 2005 on CD only, is now available on vinyl.  "Jackie-O Motherfucker use the lessons of The Sacred Harp and other traditional blues and gospel sources as a point of disembarkation. On these seven tracks, the group patiently unravel their source material's tangled threads, respooling them into wondrously evocative yet deeply personalized new devotionals." Double LP. limited to 500 copies.  ) 29.00

JOHN STAMMERS - Waiting Around LP (wonderfulsound - Fittingly titled, Waiting Around is the fruits of melodic craftsman, John Stammers’ labour. Arriving no sooner than six years since the release of his 2011 debut; a physically demanding day job and fascination for all things analogue has made way for a record of stark beauty and enduring quality - delayed only by an unyielding sense of intrepid experimentalism. “Recording to tape is my favourite thing to do and I only get to do it two weeks a year because it’s so expensive,” John explains. “When you’re working to tape you have to rely on favours – stealing bits of time here and there which means you’re at the mercy of other people’s schedules and there could be months between sessions. It’s frustrating, I’m not gonna lie, but I’m in love with tape and what it does to the music. It’s unpredictable in a good way, adding sounds and crunch harmony.” ust as tape passes between reels, music-making has ebbed and flowed throughout John’s life. Song-writing in Manchester before relocating to London, John, like his grandfather before him, is no stranger to a solid work ethic; Waiting Around’s enchanting mysticism was created around six 10-hour days a week of building and painting to fund the excessive cost of analogue studio time. “The physical and mechanical side of working with your body is a total escape from anything creative,” John says of the contrast to writing in the comfort of his own home.) 18.00

JULIA LUCILLE -  Chthonic LP (“Eternally” is every bit as disarming and lovely as the most haunting gems in that ethereal dream-folk lineage. But there’s also a dark, almost foreboding undercurrent here that lends the song a desolate, windswept vibe and an undeniable visceral allure that (not coincidentally) recalls last year’s amazing Cross Record album, and inevitably sets the tone for the rest of the way. It’s a sweeping, almost emotionally overwhelming intro to a beautiful record) 20.00

LES FRERES MEGRI - s/t LP (SUDIPHONE  - Les Frères Mégri was a Moroccan rock band formed in Oujda, Morocco in the late 1960's. The band consisted of four members, the three brothers, Hassan, Mahmoud, Younès and their sister Jalila Mégri. Before the creation of the band, the Megri brothers were popular session musicians, composers and producers in Morocco starting in the late 50’s. In the early seventies, Hassan and Mahmoud released four singles as Les Frères Mégri. "El Harib/Heya Essamra", "Galouli Ensaha/Kellemtini", "Sebar / Ououd Ou Chouk" in 1971 and "Sabar / Chaaltiha Nar" in 1972. This LP, their second album, simply titled Younes Hassan Mahmoud, was a collaboration between all three brothers, was released in 1974.  They re-recorded some of the singles tracks with Younes and the result is one of the finest examples of the early 70’s progressive, psych, folk sounds coming from North Africa and beyond.  This is an album that stands as a high point for the genre globally.  A baroque folk approach that demonstrates utterly mesmerizing results, psychedelic, electric guitars, sitars, bongos, swirling multi-tracked vocals that sound like prime era Fairport Convention/Pentangle/Trees and the 1st two Pink Floyd albums.  It is of that pedigree.   A holy grail LP that has been near impossible to locate for over 40 years.  Beautifully re-mastered, its presented here in its first ever reissue.  Limited ed. of 500 copies.) 20.00

LITTLE BOB AND THE LOLLIPOPS - Nobody But You LP (mississippi - Great retrospective of Lil Bob and the Lolipop's discography.  Classic Louisiana swamp soul / R& B, recorded in the early to mid 1960's.  Includes the popular dance floor fillers  "I Got Loaded" and "Stop" as well as some real beautiful obscurities. Ballads and stompers to make life better.  Old school "tip on" cover.  ) 17.00

MINDKULT - Lucifer's Dream LP (throne - Mindkult is the sole creation of Fowst.  Analog worshipping ancient luciferian vampyr occvlt Doom Rock like no other. "Truly, enough good words cannot be said about Mindkult. Hits all the right notes.“ "Brilliant, slightly unnerving with a strange mix of the raw and smooth Mindkult worms its way into the psyche and takes up residence there making sure your life and world will never be the same again.“ "The production is lo-fi, primitive, and perfectly suits the underground, mysterious feeling that shrouds this release like a bad omen. Very impressive!") 14.00

MIRAH - you Think It's Like This, But Really It's Like This  LP (k - t's like this: Mirah writes and sings the songs that mean the mostest. She looks like a valentine. She sings like the valentine of all time first prize. Her power lies in steeping the feelings that motivate her, simmering and condensing them, encased in herself. Then she creates a rich, tender space where the listener can really be touched by this dense, potent package she sends directly to them in a deliciously seductive, complexly sculpted lullaby, honest and true. Her finger picking is nice. Did you ever notice how she leans her front foot on her back foot? She don't miss no notes.) 18.00

MOSES NESH -  No Labor-Saving Machine LP (keeledscales - Bouncing, finger-picked guitar with a steady downbeat provides the backbone for Moses Nesh’s “Bound to Ride,” a track from the songwriter’s new album, No Labor-Saving Machine, set for release Friday on Keeled Scales Records. Nesh’s throaty, clipped vocals ramble along with the guitar line, accompanied by airy female backup vocal. The song’s traditional folk aesthetic land somewhere between Devendra Banhart and Michael Hurley. ) 20.00

NAHID AKHTAR - I am black beauty LP (finders keepers - “I am black beauty… love me!” A forthright enough request, one would think, from an artist whose music was indeed loved, revered and which played a hugely influential and omnipresent role in Lahore’s vibrant cinematic patchwork that covered the late 1970s and early 1980s. However, until now, it seems that this lost love letter to a potential global audience of millions of sonic suitors has been caught up in the pesky Pakistani postal system. Nahid Akhtar needs a connection. Don’t blame the Khyber Mail. In a neat and tidy career that spanned exactly ten years, Nahid Akhtar came, saw and conquered, then relatively disappeared without even thinking about buying the t-shirt. Disrobing the vibrant finery that interweaved textures of Ghazals, classical music, Punjabi folk songs and Qawwalis (not forgetting a wide range of progressive pop music penned for the Pakistani picture house) from which this records track list is lovingly gathered.) 22.00

PAN DAIJING - Lack 惊蛰 LP (pan - Culminating as the purgative ‘finale’ to her improvisational live performances, Pan Daijing’s debut album also offers an insight to her future works. The process was intuitive and raw, born out of her previous explorations. Over the past 2 years, she has composed, recorded and edited different concerts and field recordings across Europe, China, and Canada, forming the basis of the record. Arriving as her first full-length album, ‘Lack 惊蛰’ was crafted from this long, painstaking mental and physical practice. Daijing’s pieces are created around a very intense and intimate mental catharsis, often expressed through a close physical interaction with strangers in her live sets which seek to engage them in a highly personal way. “When I was finalising this album, they didn’t feel like tracks to me anymore, but more like a psychoanalytical process,” she says. “I saw myself being this absurd, mad person ‘acting’ out the sounds… It’s rather physical, and became like a mindgame. All things came out naturally as part of me.” The narrative of the album presents a perspective of the world as ‘the theatre of our minds’ – where Daijing sees the record as an ‘opera piece’ in its storytelling and drama. The release is mastered by Rashad Becker at D&M, featuring photography by Ralf Marsault, and artwork by Bill Kouligas.) 24.00

SKYFOREST - Unity LP (Skyforest is a Melancholic Metal project of B.M. (Blurry Lights, Hiki). The first writings and recordings were made in the beginning of 2013, but the first release surfaced only in mid-2014, when session members were found for a proper recording. "Unity" is the second album of Skyforest. It was written entirely during autumn-winter 2015. It is expressing a more positive and hopeful vibe than the first album "Aftermath". Lyrically, the album is about unity with nature and unity with yourself. ) 17.00

SEEFEEL / SCORN / TIMOTY LEARY / YANOMAMI - Ancient Lights And The Black Core LP (sub rosa -

SUSPIRAL - Delve Into The Mysteries.. LP (Supremely dark and majestic, SUSPIRAL's music is a coalescence of frantic guitar-working and mesmerizing, noisy solos raising from chaos like bloody spears pointed at a black hole sky. The band's apocalyptic and unmerciful assault is tempered by the obscure, trance-inducing aura of the melodies, and by a well-structured songwriting, so dense of shades, sonic details and unexpected twists and turns that the 33 minutes of “Delve Into The Mysteries Of Transcendence” end up looking like an odyssey. The purpose is to explore the true depths of darkness instead of safely swimming on its surface, like too many bands are content to do. But SUSPIRAL have no fear to drown: they bravely jump into the vacuum, sure to ascend) 12.00

USTALOST - The Spoor of Vipers LP (gilead - When Will Skarstad of Yellow Eyes approached Gilead Media to discuss the potential release of his new solo project, Ustalost, we knew the answer needed to be yes. But what we didn’t know was how emotionally powerful this project would be so quickly after the release of the astoundingly dense Yellow Eyes album Sick With Bloom.) 18.00

WILLIAM BASINSKI + RICHARD CHARTIER - Divertissement LP (important - Divertissement is the third collaborative full length from minimalist composer William Basinski and sound artist Richard Chartier. The duo utilize electronics, piano, tape-loops and short wave radio to evoke a dense atmosphere suggesting hundreds of years of history rising up from the depths of a reverberating cathedral. Subtle, buried and intense murmurs of melody morph through this deeply consuming and slowly evolving composition in two parts. Pressed in an edition of 500 with beautiful cover drawings by artist James Elaine. 100 copies are on color vinyl for mailorder customers.) 27.00

TAPES

COLLECTOR - same TAPE (night people - Long time experimental musician Jason Campbell of Newcastle Australia latest project Collector took shape after he dissolved his prior synth project Stitched Vision. Collectors modular synth compositions channel elements of industrial, noise, and dark atmospheric techno to create complex machine grooves that evolve in caustic, frenetic ways that create high levels of tension and intensity but dont ignore musicality or subtlety. A very distinct take on dark electronics that is hard to pin down in its imagination and ingenuity towards minimalist electronic rhythms. A great companion tape to the newest Roman Nails cassette also from down under and related in that Cooper Bowman of Roman Nails recently released Collectors debut LP on his AU label Drawing Heat. ) 7.00

DEMON HEAD - Thunder On the Fields TAPE (caligari - Hard Rock doom from Demnark. 2017 album, tape version by Caligari Records) 7.00

DISCALCE - Mangrove Estuary TAPE (Night People - Discalce is one of many musical and artistic projects created by Philip Maier whose best known project Lack has prior releases on great labels like Hot Releases, Tone Log, and Phils own Grovl Tapes. Lack creates interesting contemporary techno heavily filtered with a mindset towards experimental electronics and while the presence of Lacks minimalist aesthetics are present in Discalce compositions this new project much more embodies a focus on the Dub pillars of bass, reverb and delay. Discalce is heavily drum and rhythm oriented but operates at a quicker more frenetic pace and has a layered drum sound approach that sets it apart from many of the UK dub step classics these songs could be compared too. Discalce is a fresh take on pushing modern electronic dance music structures through dub effects and stays clear of emulation of the past by focusing on how Dub aesthetics can effect Phil’s already established evolving musical identity. Highly Recommended. ) 7.00

HELLO SHARK - Break Arms & H.S. TAPE (orindal - ello Shark’s Linc Halloran writes heart-wrenching pop songs of young love & aimlessness, loaded with perfectly vivid turns of phrase that bloom & wilt all at once. The stories are uplifting for their familiarity, & hilarious for their humility. More than anything, though, they ache with thousands of small regrets. Disappointment & romance are everywhere, if you look hard enough. This limited edition cassette release collects Hello Shark’s beloved first two albums, 2011’s Break Arms & 2013’s H.S., both originally released on compact disc by Burst and Bloom Records. The collection commemorates Hello Shark’s “classic” Burlington, VT line-up (Alex Decato on drums, Sean Hood on bass, & Linc Halloran on guitar & vocals) from way back when the world was young, before the wind blew Linc to Philadelphia, PA.

HYLIDAE - same TAPE (night people - Hylidae is a new music project from Saint Louis by Jon Burkhart. Relatively new to pushing his music to the outside world Jon steps into his creations as Hylidae a little bit green but it sure doesn’t sound like it with the excellent production value and seamlessly blended eclectic nature of this release. Hylidae covers a lot of ground on these six tracks that are compositionally complex and dense in the selection of sounds and the way they ebb and flow out of each other. Hylidae has a high regard for how to layer textural sound elements to high light the drama embedded in this hybrid electronic dance music. No approach seems off the table yet the results are so clear and contained. Jon even delivers some nice vocals to music that might not usually expect them to great effect. Not limited to studio creations witnessing Hylidae live yielded no drop off in performance of these excellent tracks. A very high mark for this newcomer. ) 7.00
KLLK - Le Brasier des Monder TAPE (caligari - Le Brasier des Mondes is the debut album of the French band K.L.L.K. It will be released on March 3 by Caligari Records on both tape and CD, with different artwork for each (the CD art is above, the tape art is below). Today we have for you all the music on the album, presented as a continuous stream without breaks between the tracks, which is undoubtedly the best way to hear it — because it’s a completely immersive, mind-altering, and unsettling experience whose power is at its zenith when heard straight through from beginning to end.) 7.00

LOST GREYS - Angel Lust TAPE (night people - os Greys began in Boston MA in 2014 as an ambient collage project between friends Nick Rocco and Jeff Coyne. After the creation of their first album Family Acid Baptism created from tape loops and samples they began to take their interest in atmosphere, texture and a collage approach to sound and began to apply it to more of a full band sound framework of pop. Angel Lust is their second album and was created over the course of a year using home recordings, tape samples and studio work with John Brown of World Cup. Mastered by Ryan Power in Burlington VT Angel Lust is a great sophomore album of weirdo indie pop with lots of well-arranged harmonies, lush atmosphere, interesting instrument layering and general spot on song writing. ) 7.00

RYAN GARBES - 2012-2014 Life is a Bootleg TAPE (night people - Ryan Garbes long time Night-People collaborator, Wet Hair drummer and visual artist of excellence returns with his best solo material to date. Life is a Bootleg is an album recorded over the course of time between 2012- 2014 and contains contributions from Justin Thye and Charles Free (The Savage Young Taterbug). This is Ryans broadest and brightest solo recording and clocking in at 40 minutes stands as an adventurous and complex album. Juggling a large variety of sounds stretching across a vast sonic palate Garbes balances things in a way that evokes many of Brian Enos more pop focused work as well as experimentalist rockers like Neil Michael Hagerty or Sonic Boom. A psychedelic album without any typical trappings just endless amounts of upbeat dreamy melodies and interesting layers of sound. A great album that shows the work Ryan has put in over the years honing his craft and recording technique. ) 7.00

ROMAN NAILS - Chiseler TAPE (night people - Cooper Bowmans Roman Nails project from Melbourne Down Under is back in the Night-People fold to follow up his prior cassette Artificial Sense with a new one titled Chiseler. Roman Nails continues on the path of analog electronic rhythmic explorations that evolve in subtle ways building and collapsing tension to create micro minimalist dance floor slow burners. Roman Nails uses some classic drum machine sounds to great effect as they are combined with repetitive synth melodies and dark background atmosphere interesting poly rhythms take shape and seem to bounce around the confined tension of the musical mood. Another nice addition to Bowmans output both as a musician and as a curator with his excellent labels Altered States and Drawing Heat. ) 7.00

SUSPECT - Faux Empath TAPE (night people - Ryan Beck is Suspect an electronic musician who has former ties in Iowa City and now resides in Chicago. Suspect has a very refined sound for a new project just starting to push its music into the world. Faux Empath isn’t a bumpy ride but a smooth concourse that moves through a sonic space inhabited by an almost limitless supply of shifting sounds phasing in and out of themselves and the larger journey of a particular track. Suspect in a sonic way explores relationships between human consciousness and technology and how those things evolve together along with other minds and information pathways connected by technology. The music represents these ideas well offering a recording that continues to open up new listening experiences on repeat listens. Stay tuned for more from Ryan Beck and Suspect in the future as this is a great first effort in more exposure for an interesting project. ) 7.00

VILLORIA BLUE - Vespers TAPE (night people - Villoria Blue is a collaborative duo between Jeff Lane the Night-People alumni behind Tereshkova and his partner vocalist Lesley Dixon. Villoria Blue has many qualities that connect it to Tereshkova in approach; an experimental view towards pop melodies, dreamy atmosphere, and vintage synth explorations but stands apart in its sparse scenic almost serene creation of sound. Villoria blue has the unique ability to sound both very contemporary and ambiguous of its time of creation at the same time. An intimate romantic sounding release with lots of dynamics and excellent production and clarity. A truly uniquely mysterious take on dreamy synth pop and a great release that you shouldnt pass on. ) 7.00

ZINA - furniture TAPE (night people - Zina came across my radar last year at a local DIY show and instantly won me over, the progress since has been dramatic despite the very strong start and Zina has quickly become one of if not my favorite local musician and performer. Furniture is her debut release and hopefully just the beginning of many more to come. Zina grew up in Guinea and lived between there and France before finding her way to the US, landing in Minneapolis due to a family connection here. She grew up taking in French Indie Pop and also is heavily influenced by Disco and cinema. The goal of Furniture for her was to create a kind of soundtrack, pop songs that could be substituted into the movies she loves, with a comedic, social, playful, and melancholic soul to them. She told me she imagined songs created from the diary of a divorced housewife that still had IT. Zina has a special voice that puts extra shine on these already great pop songs. Dont miss out. ) 7.00

V/A - Un Saludo! Mexican Soundsystem Cumbia In La TAPE (First ever vinyl compilation of cumbia sonidera! Exuberant, hi-energy productions with laser drops, shout outs, and crashing percussion. From classic accordion covers, reverb drenched Andean harp, to futuristic synthed out ballads, cumbia sonidera has emerged as popular folk music, bridging the analogue and digital worlds. Selected from the Discos Barba Azul label, the compilation highlights the musical link between Los Angeles and Mexico. Co-release from Dutty Artz and Songs from Home.) 8.00

GILLIAN CARTER / EYELET - split 7“ (i corrupt - One year since the release of their remarkable LP ‘Dreams of Suffocation’ and a split with COMA REGALIA, Florida screamo band GILLIAN CARTER are back with an incredibly enrapturing co-release with Maryland act EYELET, whose excellent EP ‘Error(s)’ apparently did not reveal everything they are capable of. Where loads of classic and modern screamo bands wrap up their sadness in massive maelstroms of violent outbursts, this exceptional split explores the genre’ inherent melancholic and emotional facet more fully. Without losing the overwhleming, ferocious countenance.) 6.00

THE COATHANGERS - parasite 12“ (suicide squeeze -  ONE-SIDED 12" w/ B-SIDE ETCHING + LIMITED EDITION 12" PRESSING ON SEA GREEN VINYL + FIRST 12" PRESSING LIMITED TO 2000 COPIES w/ DL COUPON Parasite kicks off with the title track, a rowdy throwback to a younger, angrier incarnation of the band. Crafted in the wake of the election and during a tumultuous period in the band members' private lives, "Parasite" is pure catharsis. "During the making of our last album, I didn't want to scream anymore, I just wanted to sing and focus on melody. When we came to this recording, I just wanted to scream and curse," says guitarist/vocalist Julia Kugel. If the EP is meant as a journey through the various stages of the band's career, it certainly storms out of the gate with the same kind of piss-and-vinegar of their eponymous debut .And while "Wipe Out" is another rowdy venture, with bassist Meredith Franco taking over the lead vocal duties over a steady barrage of pointed power-chords, it also showcases the rousing choruses that elevated the trio from underground heroines to an internationally renowned garage act.) 15.00

DOWNTOWN BOYS - cost of living LP (sub pop - The United States' myriad inequalities, hatreds and phobias are painfully evident in 2017, offering proof that the age-old dichotomy of "political bands" versus "apolitical bands" simply doesn't exist. Either you are comfortable and unfazed by the current reigning power structures, or you use your music as a vehicle for the dismantling of oppression and the creation of something better. No matter what your songs are about, you are choosing a side. The position of Providence, RI's Downtown Boys has been clear since they started storming through basements and DIY spaces with their radically-minded rock music: they are here to topple the white-cis-het hegemony and draft a new history. Downtown Boys began by combining revolutionary ideals with boundless energy and contagious, inclusive fun, and their resolve has only strengthened as their sound and audience have grown. Cost of Living is their third full-length, following a self-released 2012 debut and 2015's Full Communism on Don Giovanni Records.) 19.00

EVERY STRANGER LOOKS LIKE YOU - Bluest Shade of Black LP (dog knights - Every Stranger Looks Like You is a 3 piece grunge/post-hardcore band based in Brakel, Belgium. With a track record consisting of 80 shows, 2 tours, 5 releases, ESLLY definitely is no newcomer to the scene. Ever since the release of their debut EP, ESLLY have been giving proof of their relentless work ethic. Word of their insanely energetic live performances quickly spread and led them to share the stage with names such as Bass Drum Of Death (US), Listener (US), Break Even (OZ), The Shrine (US), The Cold Harbour (UK), local heavyweights such as Kapitan Korsakov, Cocaine Piss, Brutus and many more. „De Morgen”, one of Belgium’s biggest news papers, might have described it best: “(their show is)…a crushing half hour. As filthy as the dishwater in a college bar, as sharp and stinging as a well placed comparison. If this is ‘the shape of punk to come’, I’ll have one punk membership, please.” Recorded and mixed at Much Luv Studio and mastered by Carl Saff (Fu Manchu, Drug Church, Touché Amoré,,…), this release will push the boundaries of the genres ESLLY finds itself in, and leave people in awe.) 14.00

I HATE SEX - World Of Grief LP (dog knights - I Hate Sex is a screamo band from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Since their inception early 2015, I Hate Sex have released an EP titled Circle Thinking, along with three splits with international and local bands. They have played many local, national and international shows including a Japanese tour in the summer of 2016. Following the release of World of Grief, I Hate Sex will be touring Europe during the month of May.) 14.00

KARKHANA - For Seun Matta LP (holidays - Featuring some of the most innovative players from Beirut, Cairo and Istanbul, Karkhana met for the first time in Beirut in 2014, bringing together influences from the three major experimental music scenes of the region and beyond. Through their live shows, the band's seven multi-instrumentalists build a transcendental atmosphere developing what could possibly be called free Middle Eastern music. Shades and traces of shaabi, tarab, sufi and much more are heard in the distinct blend of free jazz and psychedelic krautrock they've created. Recorded and mixed by Matt Bordin at Outside Inside Studio - in only two days - and mastered by Carl Saff at Saff Mastering Studio in Chicago, For Seun Matta is the first studio album by the band, following Nafas (Omlott, 2016) and Live At Metro Al-Madina(Sagittarius A-Star, 2015). Featuring Sharif Sehnaoui on electric guitar, Sam Shalabi (The Dwarfs of East Agouza) on oud and electric guitar, Maurice Louca (The Dwarfs of East Agouza) on organ and synth, Umut Çağlar (Konstrukt) on zurna, gralla, bamboo flutes, and percussion, Mazen Kerbaj on trumpet, Tony Elieh on electric bass, and with the recent addition of Michael Zerang on drums. "I wish I could track down more of this tantalising outfit's music to share...This Middle Eastern supergroup first got together to celebrate the music of Egyptian surf guitarist Omar Khorshid – who was also a key figure in Oum Kalthoum's orchestra – but their remit has expanded somewhat and now they're fully committed to outer-perimeter explorations in Krautrock-leaning, cosmic free jazz" (John Doran, The Guardian)) 18.00

KÜKEN - Küken LP (drunken sailor - After an amazing debut LP and 7" on Bachelor Records, Hamburg Punks 'Kuken are back with their killer new record. Featuring Chris and Phillip, the twins from The Kidnappers, Kuken drop the powerpop sound from that band, strip everything back and create a total wall of sound. It's dark, paranoid, tight as hell, 12 songs and not one of them tops the 2 minute mark, no messing around, every song just hits you. If you like your punk, nasty, driven and bleak, this is for you. Comes on reverse board, with insert and download card. ) 14.00

MARIA MONTI – Il Bestiario LP (holidays - Deluxe vinyl reissue of Maria Monti's legendary Il Bestiario, a prime example of the avant-garde art-song of the 1970s. Knew for her renderings of Italian popular songs, Maria Monti is an Italian singer and actress with a noteworthy career: cabaret singer in the '60s, ambitious avant-garde folk artist in the '70s, and starring in films by directors as such as Sergio Leone (Fistful of Dynamite) and Bernardo Bertolucci (1900). Il Bestiario is a near perfect emblem of the fascinating territory gained through collaboration. It enlisted the radical poet Aldo Braibanti as its lyricist, features arrangements and synthesizer from Alvin Curran (Musica Elettronica Viva), the baritone saxophone of Roberto Laneri (Prima Materia), as well as the soprano saxophone of jazz legend Steve Lacy. The result is absolutely stunning, musically unique within the respective outputs of its participants' long and noted careers. One of the most beautiful and neglected albums of its decade.) 20.00

NO OMEGA - Culture LP (dog knights - No Omega's third full-length album. Follow up from EP 'Occupants' (2015). Recorded in Söderhamn with Dennis Bertilsson, in November and December, 2016. All vocals (except guest vocals and main vocals on 'Culture', 'Unsociable' and 'Safe', as well as guest vocals on 'Contortion') recorded in Stockholm with Ted Lundwall, in January 2017. Mixed and mastered by Jack Shirley at Atomic Garden Studio in San Fransisco. ) 14.00

OSTRACA - Last LP (i corrupt - Last is the second full-length album by US heavy screamo act Ostraca and it contains all elements fans of said genre need: From high-pitched and desperate screams, melodic as well as spazzy guitar riffs, fast and forward pushing drums to intense and quiet moments to take a breath and get lost in the sound. Those six songs are the perfect tunes for all screamo lovers and fans of City Of Caterpillar, Orchid and (older) Loma Prieta.) 12.00

RAINFOREST SPIRITUAL ENSLAVEMENT - Fallen Leaves Camouflaged Behind Tropical Flowers LP (hospital - Marking six years of Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement’s cultish, elemental output, Dominick Fernow (Prurient) gives the project’s first ever release a vinyl pressing for the first time, coiling up two extended tracts of impure, unnatural gloom ranking amongst his most cherished works. When RSE was first conceived with Fallen Leaves Camouflaged Behind Tropical Flowers in 2011, the project was shrouded in a veil of mystery which left many fiends guessing to its provenance - it seemed too far reduced to be identified as Fernow’s work, but also didn’t easily resonate with anyone of Hospital Productions’ usual suspects, instead holding a unique line of stygian slow techno that sounded like some our bleakest, febrile fantasies come to life. Soon enough RSE’s creator and navigator was indeed revealed to be Fernow, and the project became regarded among his most prized golems by those in the know, not least because it was starkly defined in contrast to his myriad other pseudonyms - Vatican Shadow, Prurient, Christian Cosmos, Force Publique Congo, and so on - by dint of its perceived restraint and glowering minimalism. Perhaps because of that stringent, meditative asceticism, the hypnotic grip of RSE has remained undiminished and perhaps as strong as ever on this new vinyl edition, where the Predator heartbeat and keening tonal groans of Life Would Transform sound more pensive and narcotically effective than ever, and the the borderland industrial chug and clag of Skull Covered In Moss seems to be seated deeper into its dank gloom, emulating a location recording of a burial-by-mud in some godforsaken no-man’s-land, with lurking parakeets and mechanical birds awaiting their turn on your soon-to-be carrion. Life Would Transfor. Life Would Transform  Skull Covered In Moss) 22.00

ROUGH HANDS - Let Me Win Your Hearts And Minds LP (dog knights - At the tail end of 2015, ROUGH HANDS entered Brighton Electric Studios to record their long-awaited debut album ‘Let Me Win Your Hearts And Minds'. Pushed to their absolute musical limits by producer Jag Jago (The Ghost Of A Thousand, The Maccabees, The Xcerts) and mastered by Peter van 't Riet (DragonForce, ...Trail of Dead), the album has been described in Metal Hammer's 'Firing Range' section as "A perfect blend of Hardcore and Post-Hardcore" that will no doubt be regarded as one of the most exciting releases of 2016.) 13.00

SAKATA / MOTA / DI DOMENICO / CALLEJA - jomon LP (holidays -Japanese saxophone transgressor Akira Sakata meets with his long-time collaborator and Fender Rhodes virtuoso Giovanni Di Domenico, Portuguese guitarist Manuel Mota, and drummer Mathieu Calleja for a session recorded at Les Ateliers Claus in Brussels. Named after the Jomon period of the Japanese prehistory - when Japan was inhabited by a hunter-gatherer culture rich in tools, clay pottery, and jewelry made from bone and stone - the record features three tracks: Jomon (縄文), Kaen (火焔), and Dogu (土偶). The Dogu (literally: "clay figures") were small humanoid and animal figurines made during the Jomon period for religious purpose: it may have been believed that illnesses could be transferred into the Dogu, then destroyed, clearing the illness, or any other misfortune. The record itself is a musical healing ritual invoking and unleashing a powerful demon with Sakata's throat singing, then slowly hypnotizing it in the second half of the album, putting it back into its vault before it's too late. Beautiful artwork made with Sakata's hand-painted Kanji characters. Pressing info:  250 copies on black) 18.00

SQUADRA OMEGA - Nervoso LP holidays - The Squadra Omega teams up again revealing itself in the shape of a trio composed - exactly as for the session which gave birth to Il serpente nel cielo - by OmegaFrank (drums), OmegaG8 (bass, electronics) and OmegaMatt (guitar, organ, sax and electronics). An improvised session recorded live by Matt Bordin at Outside Inside Studio, where the Squadra goes nervously FREE - constantly suspended and harmonically non resolved - following a trail of skilled atonal jazz rock guitar tunes leading to moments of dazed electronics. Definitely not an easy-listening album, wonderfully rendered by a masterful cut made by Daniel Krieger at SST in Frankfurt. For fans of early ECM records. Cover artwork by Re delle Aringhe. Pressing info: 250 copies on black) 18.00

TRACHIMBROD - Leda LP (dog knights - Trachimbrod is a Screamo/Shoegaze band based in Stockholm/Malmö, Sweden. They released their debut album "A Collection of Hidden Sketches" in 2012 and a 12" split with Swedish band Sore Eyelids the following year. Their music is characterised by catchy drums and jangly guitar melodies combined with unique and emotional vocals. Even though the music tends to evolve from record to record, the unmistakable ‘Trachimbrod sound’ is always present. Leda - their second LP, will be released in April, 2017 by Dog Knights Productions (UK), Through Love Rec. (GER) and Zegema Beach Records (CAN). FFO: Raein, Suis la Lune, Touché Amoré, Mogwai) 14.00

TREEHOUSE - centre of the world LP (bedroom suck - Three boys from Hobart, Tasmania. The band hold their strength in a surprisingly heartfelt and unashamed guitar sound, full of emotional, gut wrenching sing-alongs - then transposing this into a contemporary Australian scene. They are interested only in their music and the reaction it sparks in their audience.) 20.00

YOUTH FUNERAL - Heavenward LP (dog knights - New Hampshire/ Massachusetts based Youth Funeral’s debut full-length Heavenward begins as one hopes it would, with a chaotic burst of energy that offers an immediate sense of what their bleak brand of fast-paced hardcore is all about: blasting drums, rumbling bass, and octave based guitar leads towered over by vocalist Casey Nealon’s gruff rhythmic yell. While this is all well and good, what marks Heavenward as a major step forward for the group comes in their ability to work outside the confines of aggressive music. Youth Funeral shows their versatility in tracks like “Only In Sleep Safe” which begins with a whirlwind of pick slides and punk beats that could lead into a straight ahead song yet takes the listener in another direction entirely, lolling lazily into a sliding guitar lead over a fuzzed out two-chord progression. While the hopeless feeling that dominates the beginning of the record remains, Youth Funeral presents the raw emotion found earlier in a new form that brings a welcome change of dynamic and pace. “Shadow Phases” similarly finds the band working outside of their comfort zone by adding an off-kilter groove in the middle of the song that makes the plummeting conclusion all the more poignant. While Heavenward at times captures the feedback driven aggression of modern acts like Loma Prieta and Lord Snow, Youth Funeral sets itself apart from current trends in hardcore by writing unpredictable, jarring music that fearlessly defies expectations of both genre and form.) 14.00

TAPES

HEAVEN IN HER ARMS - White Halo TAPE (dog knights - Heaven In Her Arms' third LP 'white halo' as a deluxe limited edition cassette in a box-set w/ 5 double-sided art cards! Music is a medium of connection no matter what political and geographical borders want to dictate. What music in general is also celebrated for is the possibility to blend regional with global sounds to create new and unique soundscapes. Japan is one of those regional examples where the dominant structures of heavy music are mashed up with the local culture to preserve a musical testimony of the here and now. One of those bands who stand this balancing act between Western and Asian influences are Tokyo's HEAVEN IN HER ARMS. After ten years of relentlessly touring the world including destinations such as Europe, Russia and many parts of Asia and numerous critically acclaimed releases, HEAVEN IN HER ARMS are ready for the next chapter of their history. "White Halo" is the name of the upcoming longplayer that once again manifests the band's willingness to excel the own aspirations. This album fits perfectly into HEAVEN IN HER ARMS' discography without sounding antiquated or outdated, but offers everything that fans have been lurking for. What makes "White Halo" special is that the band's origin is once again audible in every single tone without serving any stereotypes or being pathetic. This album sounds like a visit to Tokyo with its roughly 14 million inhabitants, ever buzzing traffic and bright neon lights. It is easy to get lost but signs and structures remain as a golden thread that turns this trip into a delightful and fascinating journey. "White Halo" sounds huge and overwhelming with every little aspect in its own way. May it be the complex riffing, the pervading Japanese vocals or the overall dramatic composition. HEAVEN IN HER ARMS once again prove their distinctive sense for an unblemished songwriting that can keep pace with other big players in the genre.) 11.00
