I'm looking for the best venues in these cities, can anybody help out?

Re: Best Venues

Sheffield has a few, depends what you're after.

The Grapes- My fave, small room, about 80 capacity (I've seen more in) above a listed pub, 3 bands for 60 quid to the engineer, 20 quid per extra band. Brilliant sound and shut off from any disturbance, just need to get people to the gigs.

DnR Live- Quite big, weird setup but very loud and suited to hardcore/indie stuff, I'd say about 200 capacity, but looks full with 50 as its very long and narrow. Same pricewise as the Grapes oddly.

Cricketers Arms- Free to have, but no PA or anything, like the Packhorse in Leeds, very DIY, looks full with 50 in, hideous carpets, not a bad location as its only 20 minutes from the train station and town.

Corp- Not DIY, but can be really good, small room has room for I'd say 250, big room, 4-500? Some amazing stuff comign up, Boris, Taint, Knut, Ephel Duath etc.

Red Deer- Tiny tiny pub, but they let you do acoustic stuff.

thanks mate thats really helpful, i'll probs check out cricketers. anybody else help with any of the other cities?

LIVERPOOL

drezla lounge - fits about 80, kind of ballroom style decor, good sound due to wooden floor and panels on walls. the best in my opinion. small stage for drumkit and amps.

bar fresa - almost as good, but set out in a kind of odd way, very good sound aswell. no stage whatsoever. fit about 100 in there.

pilgrim top room - pub room, pretty good if you get a crowd in there, but you need about 80+ to make it decent.

magnet - very big, very bad sound. try and stay away from it to be honest.

roadkill - hardcore/metal bands play here loads, very good sound but very big! fits about 250+

i play bass in a band....we need a vocalist.

HULL

The Ringside - Only ever been there once but it looks like buffet for a wedding reception type room. Good venue though.

The Adelphi - Not been to this one but apparently it is pretty small, meant to be good.

Re: Best Venues

Adelphi sounds quite good and Johnny those liverpool venues sound ace too. Thanks anybody who's contributed so far.

Re: Best Venues

If I was you, I'd be looking for people who put on gigs rather than venues- gigs at the same venue can vary wildly depending on who's organised it.
