Re: board games

This has reminded me that I've still got 'Ghettopoly' lying about somewhere that's unplayed...

Looks as though it's not being made anymore, instead I've found you Metal Mental Meltdown.

Also, Lord of the Rings Risk is great, takes as long as the normal one but has a bit more to it.

lord of the rings risk is half a game. you don't even get to go to mordor.

They made an expansion for the full game which has everything you could want, bit cheeky really.

Re: board games

rather!

Re: board games

Diplomacy

Probably my favorite board game there is. Similar to Risk, but based around WW1 era. Everyone moves at once, and there are no dice rolls. Outsmarting, out-talking, out-lying, and outmanuvering your opponents.

Axis & Allies: D-Day

There are quite a few Axis and Allies games, the original, D-Day, Pacific, Europe, and Battle of the Bulge (and then miniatures games). However, D-day is by far my favorite. They are all similar to Risk but a bit more intensive.

Betrayal at the House on The Hill

FUn little game. A bunch of people go into a haunted house, and something happens (different each time), where one of the players betrays the others, and then the other players have to beat them and viceversa. The game board is made up of a bunch of different rooms and is so composed differently each time.

Risk 2210 and Risk Godstorm

Both fun little variants of Risk.

Vampire: Prince of The City

From White Wolf's World of Darkness. I happen to like just playing the Pen and Paper game better, but I never have anyone to play it with, so this is a good change of pace.

Arkham Horror

Based around Lovecraft and Cthulu.

Re: board games

Well, we played scrabble and that werewolf game (no, not the goth RPG). I had Settlers all set up and ready to go but no one fancied it. Maybe next time, eh.

The werewolf game was fucking amazing! Mike tells the best stories and builds atmosphere so well. We need a few more people for next time, though.

Scrabble, man. I was denied any prospect of expanding my Czech or comic book induced vocabulary; instead I managed to get like 20 points out of BOTH "GOD" and "MAM".

Next games eve in two weeks, sailor. We'll get Settlers set up now you realised you had the rules on you the whole time!

Re: board games

has anyone mentioned the game "War On Terror"?

Re: board games

Which werewolf game is this? Because the only ones I know are Werewolf: The Forsaken and Werewolf: The Apocalypse.

Re: board games

Awesome!  It's good to see there are some genuinely good replies in this thread on top of the 'wacky' answers.

Settlers, Carcassone, Axis & Allies, Diplomacy, all of these are great.  I'm a fan of Risk 2210 as well.  Secret shame:  I've played the World of Warcraft board game.  Twice.  It takes about 6hours, and ends in counter-rolling a dice pool of about 25 D6.  Some good mechanics in there, but it's toooo looonnggggg.

Tuesday was definitely gaming mania.

Werewolf ruled. Downside was we should've really had at least one person more to up the ante, so to speak. There was 6 of us (not including the quiz master).

Being the visonary (or Seer) was class; I was double bluffing without even realising I was bluffing in the first place, so when I did cotton on, it was just total mayhem.

Takes a while to get yr head round how everyone could be manipulating everyone etc, but really fun
