Re: Lyon, France

Good bagels in Lyon!

Re: Lyon, France

if you're speaking of the place I'm thinking about, I hate it. bagels should cost 99c, not 5 fucking euros.

Re: Lyon, France

Just came in to post my picture blog, mostly local venues / bands but not exclusively:

Re: Lyon, France

its all about http://www.grrrndzero.org/ for shows of the punk kind.. or http://breakcore.free.fr/ of the noise kind

this cunted circus never ends

Re: Lyon, France

Grrnd Zero is cool but there´s more to Lyon than GZ...there are cool squats, although obviously these places come and go, but they do have some of the best shows...

Re: Lyon, France

I hope to be there in September... I can´t wait.

Re: Lyon, France

One thing I love about Lyon...their 7 year run of winning Ligue 1 has finally come to an end!

"There is pleasure in the pathless woods, there is rapture in the lonely shore,
There is society where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar;
I love not Man the less, but Nature more."

Re: Lyon, France

any ideas on vegan/veggie places?

Re: Lyon, France

unfortunately, there's very few. Your best option is the vegetarian indian tandoori sandwich, which is a kind of indian burrito with deep fried pakoras in it. There are a lot of these places in the central Terreaux neighborhood. Also a few pizza places & two ethiopian restaurants are worth checking out. PM me if your need adresses.

Re: Lyon, France

ashcloud scuppered my lyon plans, but thanks all the same!

Re: Lyon, France

Hello

I'm going to be in Lyon and Saint-Étienne for a week in June

Any recommendations?

Baton Rouge broke up right? but some of them are in Torino (the band)?
I'm gonna check grrrndzero, merci bonsoir and bigoût records for gigs nearer the time, any other listings?

I am probably going to work my way through the rate beer guide, Ninkasi any good?

Re: Lyon, France

i'm there from may 4-8 next week - keen for any tips too

have you managed to find any English language guidebooks?
There is 12 pages for the region in the Lonely Planet France but otherwise I've not had much luck

Might be a good thing in this overplanned tripadviser/ratebeer age - might actually explore/live in the moment

Hi,

Concerning Baton Rouge they actually split up about 6 months ago, but Gwen is in Torino, Sam moved to Berlin, I think the drummer got married, while Julien probably plays in a CCR cover band at this point. Bigout put some nice shows if you're into noise-rock stuff, then you can still check grrnd zero and apparently there are some nice squats at the moment. Seems like a pretty good period.

Saint-Etienne is still a busy city punk-wise, as ever. I highly recommend a week-end trip there.

Extensive show listing there: http://www.awesomeboard.com/viewforum.php?f=9

No idea about beer...

I don't live there anymore but I can give you some information and if you need some contacts, don't hesitate to pm me.

Also, a really good current punk rock band: https://fauxdepart.noblogs.org/
