324 is indeed killer. but aren't they like grindcore and stuff?

Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

Yeah, 324 are a grindcore band, Joe.

I totally forgot about Ire, mmmh...

More power to me.

Also, Cattlepress 's first 7" and side of the split lp with Agoraphobic Nosebleed

that 7" is great but I never liked that ANB split. They had a song on some comp (Pessimiser?) that was rather tasty as well.

aaaaaahh shucks.

Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

I like this thread. Gonna have to dig some of this stuff out, it's been ages. Kiss it Goodbye... brutal!

Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

Yeah, Wellington were ace.

I can't stand Rot In Hell though.

And I really like Indecision as well. Was tempted to put a song from "Release The Cure" on that mixtape.

More power to me.

Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

definitely Crowd Control.

Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

Shameless plug: I found a couple of boxes of frightener stuff (LPs, CDs, PT splits), if anyone wants any, I can do good deals.

Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

This is a forerunner of this style, brilliant mean/aggro hardcore LP, someone should snag it........ Welly's selling one for £1.99

Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

Can anyone recommend hardcore stuff that has doomy breakdowns in it? I suppose the last Mind Eraser LP is what I'm talking about.

Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

Breathing Fire

Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

Great band on Life Is Abuse records that often get overlooked is MEDICATION TIME
couldn't find a myspace page, but here's some info: http://www.lifeisabuse.com/medication_time/index.html

Well, there's lots of good stuff being mentioned again and turns out all the bands I haven't heard are the UK ones, haha (except for Plague.)

I just feel like I need to be more precise, I'm not looking for powerviolence, weird or sludge-y bands, I'm looking for stuff that makes you want to floorpunch like mad and destroy everything. I've been trying to make a mixtape for my band's drummer because he likes moshing hardcore but the "bad" kind. I just want to find some bands that are dark, heavy, straightforward and with mean breakdowns. So far I put Gehenna, Disembodied, Undertow, Harvest, Bloodlet, Threadbare, The Swarm, Left For Dead, Damnation AD, Grounwork, Acme and Turmoil on it. It's pretty solid so far in my opinion. I just need 4 or 5 more bands. Sorry for being picky hmm

Also, I absolutely HATE Integrity.

carol ann definitely deserve a spot, they do sort of do bits of weird sludgey stuff but they also have some excellent fuck-everything-let's-mosh bits (particularly their side of the split with noothgrush, absolutely destroys).

Pseudo Colonial Pineapple Tour, 2011

Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

barrit, i can't believe i didn't mention them before.

Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

INTEGRITY is the first band that came to mind when I read Rémi's post – they're the best in their genre. Not a fan of the genre, but I really like a few things:

* INTEGRITY - Humanity Is The Devil 10" (and a couple of other records)
* CATHARSIS - Samsara LP
* SHEER TERROR - Just Can't Hate Enough LP (my favorite 'tough guy' record ever. Hello Celtic Frost!)
* THE BLACK HAND - Pulling Your Strings 10"
* DARKSIDE N.Y.C. - the early demos that sound a lot like Sheer Terror's debut LP
* A bunch of German (ACME...) and Canadian (IRE, THE SWARM...) bands.
* THREADBARE - s/t 7" (kinda emo)
* STALINGRAD - LP... fucking sick! Live, they were pretty scary.
* UNRUH - Setting Fire to Sinking Ships LP. Brutal.
* RORSCHACH - they probably influenced A LOT of the bands you like.

Check out the new ACEPHALIX 7" on Prank Records, sounds kinda like Integrity with a strong crusty edge.

OUTLAW ORDER sounds exactly like Eyehategod to my ears. I don't get it when people say it sounds "more punk" or whatever. I've only heard the 7" though.

Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

i love UNRUH.
that  STRUCTURE OF LIES / MISERY INDEX lp (think structure of lies is some UNRUH personnel) was pretty decent too.
