Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

I've just put my Kiss It Goodbye shirt through the wash (grey and black ringer, it's a doozy!), about bloody time too! Pleased to have hung on to that after some regretable shirt purges............ Time to represent again.

Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

My favourite Unruh song is their split with Creation is Crucifixion. When it goes from the first blastbeat into the chugs/drum thuds, and the vocals come in... it makes me want to bash my fists on the ground like an ape

edit: then after that bit when the beat comes in proper, it makes me want to smash a pile of old bones with a skull

Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

what about Brain Killer ?

Major Wants : To The Point "mentally checked out' 7"
the Death Dust Extractor 12" & Crisis 7"s at punk prices...
and I do a weird record label http://tadpolerecords.blogspot.co.uk/

Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

I dug out  the Pay Neuter 'Dead Inside' LP, dark and heavy, not belonging to much to a specific genre, good stuff............

definitely don't belong in this thread.

Recommend me current bands along the Unruh/Cattlepress/Systral/Ire lines please people. No mosh, no crust please, just dark, angry heavy  stuff.

can you still enjoy this stuff if you have a positive mental attitude?

Also, the answer to this question is "No". Take your posi nonsense elsewhere.

Well there's the Bremen stuff of course, and most of the obvious/good ones have been mentioned already...but also:

Spread the Disease - 'We Bleed from Many Wounds' LP (intense, spooky, grindy metallic hardcore)

Confusion - Taste of Hate 7" (heavy NYC deathcore from as early as 1992 or something, biscuit-tin production, shitloads of Obituary/Frost riffs, fuckin great)

Does anyone know where I could get/hear that Mine LP?

This band are indicative of exactly what I DON'T mean - they're far too polite, polished and "now" to come anywhere near what I'm looking for.  They are enjoyable, but seriously not remotely what I'm after here. I'm after mean weird, angry bands that you listen to and just think "fucking hell, these people are genuinely angry". Tuning down and playing fast isn't quite enough.

Chris - Corpus Dei are more along the lines of what I'm after - a lot grittier and more bitter sounding.

Tom - that's a fine bunch of suggestions as always sir.You have impeccable taste. Alas, I meant bands that are active at the moment. And unfortunately, I just sold that Mine lp sad

Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

Cursed, Ruination, Swarm and Left For Dead are all pretty negi and heavy, not sure if they've been mentioned (I had a brief skim). Whoever said Rorschach are spot on! Great band and Has anyone mentioned Artimus Pyle yet? Those guys are pretty rad?

Hey by the way. Just joined.

Feel the Darkness

Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

Cursed are the worst shit ever. Freaking hate that band. The three ones are dead good though, especially Left For Dead (best lyrics too, haha.)

Jamieserpents, I don't remember if Zorn have been mentioned but yeah, worth a listen I suppose?

More power to me.

Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

yep, I like Zorn.

I guess what I'm looking for is stuff that's kind of bleak sounding..

Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

have Suneater been mentioned, they're pretty dirty...

Manuscripts is made up of four lads all under 18, they are babies, but I expect some good stuff from them in the future (even if it's not under that name)

Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

Funnily enough I was actually just coming on to say I've been listening to that Manuscripts stuff over the last few days and I'm actually really impressed with them, took me a while to get past some of the Converge-isms but there's promise there alright..Power-Negi guy, you'll be getting some mail later today.

Asschapel - Fire & Destruction

I left, down to 3. I'm 18 as well haha. Got a bit fed up of having zero input after having played guitar for them for almost a year. Never featured on a recording, never got a chance to contribute so much as a riff to songwriting.
they also scrapped all the old stuff, i'm not sure why (actually i have a pretty good idea, but writing it could be construed as shit-stirring bitchiness) , personally i liked it a lot more than the repetitive boredom music theyre making now. was much more chaotic, with a few spazzy bits thrown in for good measure.

I'm definitely rating A Horse Called War at the moment. Not hardcore by definition but they definitely pull of that dirty, misanthropic vibe.

Check out the new ACEPHALIX 7" on Prank Records, sounds kinda like Integrity with a strong crusty edge.

Acephalix are great but they're about to split up, some of them are doing a new band with one of the guys from Infest and its great, slow and crushing.  I can't remember the exact name but it was something like Corpus.

Gehenna's about to release a few new things too.  You could also try their side project Sangraal.

Vae Victis are good too (I'd say go for the 1st lp over the second or the split though).

The Farley Overdose from Reno are pretty good too.

I'm sorry you don't like Cursed. Different strokes for different folks I suppose. Glad I redeemed myself with the other Colohan specials haha.

Would Chokehold and Burning Love had been appropriate too? Although Chokehold weren't really dark and neither are Burning Love.

Re: Let's talk about dark negative heavy hardcore.

Pardon the shameless self promotion, but Drainland recorded most of our 12" today.

It's definitely very dark and very negative.

yeah one of which is a 10" limited to like fifteen copies???

sangraal is more black metal from what ive heard.....

hope to get as much of possible of what gehenna put out.... can never have enough of it, so fucking raw and vicious sounding.

mike cheeses top ten negative hardcore records:

(may not be that much use as about half the records are by his own bands haha)

That 10" is gonna be old stuff, pretty sure its just the demo and its 9 they're doing.

They've got a few splits that are going to be coming out soon though which is all new stuff.  Plus a possible euro tour next year.

I like the fact that on that list only 3 of the bands arnt Gehenna related.

Yeah the Sangraal stuffs more black metal but still good, dark and raw.
