Topic: Active Leeds Bands?

(I suppose the caveat to this would be "...that are any good")

I need to know about Leeds bands for the purposes of putting on and getting gigs.
More stuff in the punk and hardcore sphere than LS6 supergroups if possible.

Re: Active Leeds Bands?

Cyanide Pills are really good - should be on the radar these days as folks seem to like Shitty Limits etc.

Geoffrey Oi!Cott are active but its not for me to say if they are any good

Re: Active Leeds Bands?

Mob Rules.

Re: Active Leeds Bands?

Uprights, Broken Arm, Blood Crips

Re: Active Leeds Bands?

Don't think Uprights are 'active' at the moment.

I suggested that they get in touch with the 90's Closure to do a closure/closure split.

Basically, we're putting something on and Diet Pills were going to be our "headliner", but it doesnt look like they can make it because they've lost a drummer. Afternoon Gents and all of Mick's other bands (STB, Gruel) aren't available on that date. Blood Crips are probably playing, we played with them before and they are cool guys. Mob Rules would be a dream but I dunno if we're cool enough / we dont actually know them and just admire from afar.
I know a lot of bands from Leeds get overlooked though, so I thought this would be a good reference for the lesser known names.

I haven't heard Cyanide Pills, Offshore Radio or Twisted yet, I'll get on that.

Re: Active Leeds Bands?

I would say omerta, but i think they're drummer-less at present.

Gruel = Bradford.

any bands with mackevoy or mick in them, in addition to russ's list :
life destruction - raging d-beat and dunce water - raging snotty punk ( for want of a better term)

fuck off

Re: Active Leeds Bands?

Uprights are still together, but one of them lives in Glasgow now. Someone get commissioning them before they stagnate!

Dunce Water are excellent, we've played with them too. Unfortunately they arent available for this show.

The date is the 12th of November. If you know of any bands who want to play at the Packhorse on this date please get in touch with me and relieve our stressings.

Pete left? I didn't know that.

He's in some other bands called Bonestorm who are a bit thrashy/powerviolencey, they sound like Punch. He's also in Cutting Class who don't really sound like Kid Dynamite although everyone seems to think they do.

Re: Active Leeds Bands?

Kai is now drumming for valhalla pacifists, which i would like to see, maybe they're available?

O Rly? I didnt know that. Kai's like my musical older brother, I've watched basically every band he's ever been in. I'll totally ask them.

Mob Rules are at the MOBO awards that night, so we can't attend.
