Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

'Variable Speed Drive' was reissued earlier this year with some extra tracks.

I actually like Cable's later stuff a lot more. They ditched much of the grating mathy twiddles and opted for a sludgier route which, to be fair Oli, is probably more my bag than yours.

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

Cradle from Birmingham (i think) seemed to come and go during the late 90`s without leaving much of a trace behind. Did a split 7" i think.

Somedaysbetter from Ireland.

i'm pretty sure they released something, maybe even only just a cdr. but there may be a 7", Garyoak would probably know.
always thought they were cool live,

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

I was never into Somedaysbetter, I'm sure they have no vinyl releases but do have a cd or two. Not sure if they were cdr's.

Please read and share oureoin.com ,thank you.

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

i dont know if these bands / records were already mentioned on this board anywhere. but i could rip these, if they re not already existing as mp3s:
candidate - s/t (Park And Records 199?) 7inch - i really love this one. very good mid90s emo with whispering,singing,screaming,crying...breakwater comes to mind (note: i am not very good at band comparisons)
figure / grimace - split 7inch (Self Released (?) 199?) - grimace is punk. figure do some solid emo with one of the guy singing the other speaking at the same time.very, very solid
the stalag seventeen - one forty-four 7inch(Red Jagwire 1997) - emo in the vein of giants chair with a little dischord sound in it. red jagwire put the race car riot 7inch out which i love, too

has anyone info (esp other releases) of these bands?

The Cable full length 'Variable Speed Drive' on emoisdead is so good. I guess their later stuff was not on par with it? Did they not release anything else that was good? Total shouty emo ala Ambassador 990.

One of the best albums! They released a split 7" with malcoms lost (their side isn't so good, but their s/t 7" is amazing!) on moo cow records, which is equally as good.

Found this stuff here - http://onexpath.blogspot.com/2009/01/malcolms-lost.html - quality. Cheers!

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

candidate had a cd which is on the emoisdead site
stalag seventeen had a song on the first crush cd

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

yesterday i received a nice parcel of 7"s, some can (?) be considered quite obscure... let me know if you know them/have info about them/like them!:

MORSEL/CIGARHEAD 7" - 1995, on simple solution records. M are from ann harbor. both bands are very original (especially for being from '95!), sort of mathy/complex emo, lots of very nice ideas.

RIGID - 1997, on mindwalk records (= the label that put out the amazing DRILL FOR ABSENTEE). i expected a sound similar to DFA, but actually they are powerfulll emo/almost proto-screamo! they thank INSTIL, AUTUMN and YOU AND I...

JETTISON CHARLIE -199?, on peas kor. i expected a noisy/postHC band, being on the same label of bands like HURL, SHALE and JUMBO... and actually they are! maybe more "friendly" than the mentioned bands, but (still) very good.

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

Found something weird today. There was a 90s emo band called Instil who released a 7'' and split with Gray Before My Eyes (can both be found on emoisdead), but there was also a band called Instill who released a 7'' the same year as Instil's 7'' and also played 90s emo! WHAT. Bit more metal in it (maybe some of you wouldn't call it emo actually) but it's amazing - http://emojolicoeur.blogspot.com/2009/0 … d-of.html.

Note - I just picked up a copy of it but I see Sam K also has it for sale here if anyone cares - http://www.collective-zine.co.uk/cboard … -sale.html

I do indeed! I actually bought the instill 7" thinking it was instil. Instil, are pre you + I and are amazing, but not in the same league as grey before my eyes. The GBMY 7" on moo cow records is an absolute classic, as is the split LP. GBMY went on to be songs of Kerman, who are equally as good, if not better. Definitely track down that songs of Kerman LP, you won't regret it! I'm getting a spare copy of the songs of Kerman / handful of dust 7" if you're interested? It's probably their weakest effort, but still worth a purchase...

You can hear 4 songs off the album here: http://www.onedaysavior.com/blog/

You don't remember me...........do you.

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

Not really obscure, but does anyone listen to Premonition? They used to play with Assfactor4 a lot. I've listened to their myspace songs countless times, but never ever seen any records/links. Bloody love what I've heard so if anyone can push some stuff my way I would be eternally grateful. I currently don't have slsk.

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

Has any ever heard this or, even better, have it on mp3?

http://store.lovitt.com/artists/1-sleep … at-lrlv002

I really want to hear it but don't really want to shell out $10 to Itunes. Gonna search the internet but I'm sure I've done this before. Maybe we can all chip in! Is it easy to distribute after dl from Itunes? (Never done it)

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

Been getting into Cars Get Crushed today and yesterday. Wrote them off when first listening to them because of the singing but that was a mistake. All their output is pretty stunning and unique it seems, would definitely like to hear the 2nd 7'' that sinker speaks of.

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

What songs are on the second Cars Get Crushed 7"?

I have one on deluxe with a black cover (with Japanese neon lights) with the songs Warped Speed and Hey Sister Vampire.

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

That's the one!

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

If you send me a pound or two and your address i'll send it to you. I think you'll enjoy it/play it more than I will!

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

For sure, I will send you an email about it. I do have a small tradelist with some decent stuff in so maybe I can send you somethign in return. Thanks!

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

Is there any other band that sound much like Cars Get Crushed? They are so good it's ridiculous - moves me in some different way to normal shouty emo.

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

chune maybe. just root around the goldenrod back catalogue a bit. there is plenty in there, some good, some amazing, some shit.

http://www.skatepunk.net/goldenrod/grcatalog.html

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

yeh, chune rules. def check out their "big hat, no cattle" cd if you havent. not sure how similar it is to cgc though, i havent listened to them too much. (sounds like i maybe should've!)

We're going to party, karamu, fiesta, forever.

List/Listless: http://listless1.bandcamp.com

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

they aren't really that similar. but it was all i could think of!

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

Could someone post mp3s of that Cars Get Crushed 7"? I have two copies of it, but I have absolutely no idea where they are...and I've been wanting to hear "Warped Speed" again lately...

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

bands requiring recognition:
Davenport (the one from Pennsylvania)
Liquid Brick
Cakewalk
