Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

Not heard of any of those bands, cheers.

There's lots of CGC here - http://www.mediafire.com/emoisdead - the 2nd 7'' hasn't been ripped for general consumption though. I also stumbled across this page the other day which has a comp track they did - http://wilfullyobscure.blogspot.com/200 … s-get.html

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

Just posted your records Oli.

Nice, thanks!

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

Peter Pan Complex - s/t (Self Released 1998) - very unique emo.strange singing and screaming at the same time. guitars are mixed very quietly in the background. dont exactly know if i like this, yet.
Radioland Hitsquad - s/t (Highwater 199?) - twinkly,slow < > fast,screaming,whispering - you know the deal - great 7inch
Two Thousand Yard Stare - s/t (Highwater 1994 (recorded)) - see R. Hitsq. - maybe more straightforward
P. Orange Trio – s/t (Drei Ecken Ein Elfer) - german band that sounds like the first karate album with more emotions
Ladderback / Marion - split 7inch (Backdoor 1999)
Kingsize Canary - s/t (Rex Rotari 1998) - german band. in the vein of cfd and early jew. worth a listen
Sleeping For Sunrise – s/t (Playing Field 1997) - very calm indieemo - thinks of caulfield emo bands

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

i thought two thousand yard stare were pretty bad.

sleeping for sunrise is a band i meant to check out years ago, but forgot.

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

Here's Inkwell's discog minus their demo - http://beyondfailure.blogspot.com/2010/ … raphy.html

Worth checking out just because there are two songs from it that are unreleased and prob not widely available until now. Both solid.

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

Found that site a couple of days ago, via myspace or anything.
Shine so bright remains one of the best emo songs ever.

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

The 2nd song on the 7'', Portrait, is totally amazing too - definitely their best two songs

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

I think the most obscure Emo/Screamo band I like from the 90's is Guyver-One. But I doubt they're that obscure haha.

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

in the context of this forum, guyver one is like the equivalent of u2 wink

That is exactly my point haha. There always someone who'll "Out-Obscure" you, honestly, I don't even try. I root around and check things out but mainly I just wait for someone to make a thread about a band and I'll have a listen, if I like them I pretend I've known about them for years/months/weeks (whatever happens to be the appropriate amount of time) tongue

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

I only listen to bands that had one practice session these days.

You'd have loved my band "Rejected Youth" we had one practice for 2 hours without a drummer and never wrote a single song/played a gig or recorded. I think I was in the most obscure band I know.

http://www.myspace.com/ithcrejectedyouth Mmm. Cringey. I even put Gallows as an influence. (I still maintain our logo was bad-ass though)

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

You thought of a name for it though! Was that during the 2 hours or before?

Before haha! I was well into the idea, but my enthusiasm was premature.

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

Thanks for these!

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

I'm gonna mention Thirty Ought Six in here as well cos I think most people on here would love em- shouty, really emotional/pissed off, without needing to scream about it...Hag Seed is the album

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

this was the only song my band TADPOLE recorded (for a comp tape) in '96... we had quite a few more songs, this was one of the (if not the) most poppish ...  please tell me what you think!!!!

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

I checked it out - not really my kind of emo but it's alright!

Re: Random / obscure 90s emo bands

the point is that we were obscure: only played two shows in 94 and/or 95 and recorded that one song for a local comp tape... smile
