Re: Your all time fave zines?

Verbal Aggression, that was an Italian zine, correct? I was in touch with them... Oh, one nice UK zine was Nuclear Gore. I think the editor was in Lord Of Putrefaction at the time... Dave Gedge or something?

Riot is probably my favourite punk zine as well. Amazing lay-outs (the handwritten era was the best), great contents... It seems Joe Riot vanished all of sudden, and nobody seems to know what he became.

Re: Your all time fave zines?

Verbal Aggression was from Wales from what I remember, done by a chap called Pete? As for Nuclear Gore..Gedge does Bad Acid zine now which I contribute too inn the rare occasions I have free time.

Handwritten Riot was so good, seriously. It blew my little teenage mind, and got it just as a point where I was really starting to get interested in hardcore.Does anyone know what Joe is doing now?

Re: Your all time fave zines?

Razorcake

Very surprised no one else has said Razorcake yet.  Over 50 issues old now, includes columns by former / current MRR types, edited by former Flipside dude, covers most of the (poppier) stuff MRR don't, takes all month to read, etc  Good stuff.

Can you really be sure of the goddamn time of day?

Great stuff!  I used to love getting these rolled up & sealed with masking tape each month.
Lived a matter of miles away from me in the New Forest & loved hardcore like MINUTE MANIFESTO but would never come to an S.T.E. gig cos he was trying to give up drinking & was scared he would fall off the wagon!  Never met up but he did interview me over the phone & I wrote a couple of pieces for them.

Re: Your all time fave zines?

yeah been digging through the zines this weekend after this thread. found some beauties. Forgot about Punk Shocker! not sure how i could. Andys humour and scrawled handwriting. mega. The Cider and cheese pasty reviews in newcastle was fucking ace, I even used to wear the `booze not cruise` patch that came with one issue.

Bugs and Drugs. somebody needs to do an omnibus of this and SM5D - i`ll harrass Bear next time i see him.

Somebody mentioned that there were loads of crap zines and that we were all looking through rose tinted spectacles and i suppose they were right but at the same time the thread is "fave zines"!! i remember there being some utter dross and you`d be hard pressed to beat local rag `Punks OXO` which was hideously shite.

I wil take a paper zine over the net online jobs anyday. Can`t read `terminal boredom` in the bath!

while i hate slagging off zines just for the sake of it, you're right mate. it was a serious waste of paper.

Re: Your all time fave zines?

Yes, even though I only read Punk Shocker last year (Andy hooked me up with one of his lingering copies of the last issue) I must say it was one of the better ones, great poison idea piece and tons of reviews of japanese shit i love

i'd love to see more of punk shocker, on punksishippies one day perhaps?

Re: Your all time fave zines?

Oh shit, add Punk Shocker to my list too! How did I forget about it? Always a great read...

Re: Your all time fave zines?

just had an email off a mate who wants rid of his entire 90`s zine collection. Result.

I`ll be passing it onto the 1in12 zine library when i have had a quick look through. Ex-zine writer (gubbins) as well so probably some decent stuff. Shame he wasn`t willing to give me his 90`s record collection as well......:)

Jim Hart?

Re: Your all time fave zines?

the very same.

Now living in Netherlands and not into punk. His record collection is probably mostly screamo. Still he seems happy so all is good.

Anyone remember the chant of "jim harts going to hospital" when he broke his arm at the 1in12 during a Voorhees (?) set. Classic.
