totally agree - the grolsch dunkel is ok on tap, not really that into it

the weihenstephaner hefeweissbier is my favourite - love franziskaner and maisel's weisse too

I've only consumed bottled Grolch weisse. I think my experience may be positively tainted, as I first had it on a hot day in amsterdam in the middle of the park after riding for hours. NECTAR

Tried that Maisels weisse recently, that was fairly rad.

Re: Beer

ahhh man, zywiec has been my big bottle lager of choice recently, not seen their porter though. the polish don't mess about when it comes to alcohol.

testify. Tyskie is my favoured Lager these days, bloody lovely stuff. Although I recently discovered I've been saying it wrong for months. I'm sticking with my mispronounciation though, it has a nice ring to it.

I'm pretty lucky as this wonderfull shop is on my way home from work (although its close the now):

Great Beer. and Planet of the Apes refrence in the name. Win, Win.

i'm not a fan of the grolsch one but; maisels, schneider and erdinger are all amazing - can't drink them all night though

i'm not sure what their distribution is like; as i've only ever had them in lancashire and yorkshire but big fan of marble beers.

Cracking bitters and the marble arch pub on rochdale rd manc is one of the best pubs i've ever been to. They also do the ginger marble - which according to wikipedia was nominated for 2006 'Best Vegetarian Pint' by The Vegetarian Society

Re: Beer

I'm lucky enough to live down the road from an offy that sells all this stuff. Beers from all over the UK and abroad. Their bar next door sells a small percentage of their wares too. I usually go for some Shepherd Neame ales sitting in, but am currently working my way through the offy shelves for take-out south east london fuck you up (tastily) delight.

Re: Beer

If anyone is ever in the south east of London - definiely check out Mr Lawrence's offy. You even have to be buzzed in though an iron gate/portcullis. It really is that special.

Re: Beer

don't think it's veg, but I love Banana Bread Beer:
http://www.drinksdirect.co.uk/acatalog/wells_banana_bread_beer.jpg

and also, have lately been a big fan of the definitely veg, Samuel Smith's organic fruit beers:
http://www.merchantduvin.com/images/brewery_art/sam_smith_art/sam_smith_organic_strawberry_ale.gif

Locally, Harveys and Dark Star do some good stuff. I used to LOVE Dark Stars OATMEAL stout until they stopped doing it. have noticed there is a Chocolate Stout on tap in the Evening Star in Brighton and I mean to try that imminently

I still NEEEEEED to try Badger's Pumpkin Ale, but can't find it anywhere beacuse it's seasonal and Mr Ian Cavell bought me some but drank it himself instead!!

Re: Beer

Those Sam Smith's fruity numbers are brewed in my home town. Nice beer. Nice place.
Badger's Pumpkin Ale is pretty damn tasty.

if you have a aldi near and you like the wheat i recommend schofferhofer, its 1.20 btl, considered a good beer in germany.

Re: Beer

despite it's slick/minimalist design, zero degrees is brilliant especially enjoyed the pale ale; foods good too

Re: Beer

although its not bad I reckon id only hit Zero Degrees if all the Bath Ales pubs, the Cornubia and the White Lion were closed, and is the Cori Tap ever bloody open?   aaah Bristol and the Rope Walk on the road to fragrant Bedmi.

The Samuel Smith ones are good, but I like the Belgian ones better.

Have you tried the Espresso Stout Darkstar had? That was really lovely.

i've banned him for a week now. fed up with him being aggressive in every thread he posts in.

I'd be a big fat liar if I didn't say that made me smile.

Re: Beer

I drink a lot of wine these days, but this is certainly a beer thread. Good ban.
