Re: Beer

Anything Adnams, especially Gunhiil and Broadside. I bought six cases of the stuff last time I was in Southwold.

Re: Beer

my favourite lately has been norfolk square b52 but i think it's out of season now. also had a really nice pint (or 3) of old smokey the other week.

Re: Beer

not being veg, I don't really pay attention to such things, so I can't vouch for any of the following:

My local started selling Tusker. It's a Pale Ale. Seems to be quite common now, I like it.

Caledonian "Over The Bar" will be back for the Start of the Six Nations, which is nice.

Everything I've tried from these guys has been lovely too: http://www.darkstarbrewing.co.uk/

Re: Beer

BrewDog Tactical Nuclear Penguin

or failing that you can get Guinness Foreign Stout, Black Sheep Riggwelter and Theakstons Old Peculier for a quid each at the mo' from Asda, possibly McEwan's Champion too.
B&M Bargains always have some cracking beer in too. Last time i was there i picked up some proper oyster stout from Ventnor Brewery.

Yeah it wasnt sessionable but it certainly wasnt the worst ive had. But then again the last thing i look for in a beer is blandness and i there's no worries about that here. Cough syrup, chocolate, liquorice, peat, xmas pud and a big alcohol burn is what i got. I'll stick to the imperial russian stouts and barleywines methinks.

I had a couple of pints of their Bashah a few weeks back and really enjoyed it.

Me bro is in Antwerp this week so im looking forward to some De Struise and Westvleteren when he returns.

Re: Beer

Beer is better if made with wheat. Konig Ludwig dunkel/weiss is my new favorite, but Paulaner, Erdinger, Franziskaner, Schneiderweiss exceteraaaa. I was quite impressed with the Grolsch varieties as well, Especially the dunkel.

If it's not made with wheat I don't care. Back to the apples.

totally agree - the grolsch dunkel is ok on tap, not really that into it

the weihenstephaner hefeweissbier is my favourite - love franziskaner and maisel's weisse too

Re: Beer

Brewdog Punk IPA is nice. Haven't tried many of the others.

Re: Beer

Ive got a Goose Island Bourbon County stout in the cupoard awaiting someone to split it with, its definitley a 'sipper'. I wouldnt mind getting my hands on a BrewDog Atlantic IPA but 1 silly priced BrewDog beer is enough for the mo'

Re: Beer

as well as erdinger, schneider and maissel's both do an alkoholfrei variety that's vegan friendly (covered by the german purity laws) and very tasty...
also, goose island root beer is amazingly good.

Re: Beer

Camerons Strong Arm is the most beautiful pint of ale ever to touch my lips. It tastes of the River Tees. In a good way.

Re: Beer

Recently ive been getting quite krunk on these.

Strong stout called gonzo imperial. originally bought it for the bottle but ended up liking it due to its arse kicking abilities.

I am quite a fan of this only because i LOVE ginger beer.
