Awesome show, Ruidosa Inmundicia blew me away, didn't expect that!

TONIGHT -

Naked On The Vague - www.myspace.com/nakedonthevague - Australia, Siltbreeze. Nihilistic weird post-punk. HEAVY.
Peepholes - http://www.myspace.com/wearepeepholes - London, Upset The Rhythm. Synth-heavy psychedelic pop.
Meddicine - http://www.myspace.com/meddicine - London, Clan Destine. Solo artist, like U.S Girls meets Suicide. INTENSE.

£5, 8pm, The Cowley Club, London Road, Members and guests welcome!

Re: BRIGHTON GIGS

THIS SUNDAY....

Sunday 17th October 2010
Upstairs at the newly reburbished Hobgoblin, Brighton

2pm to 8.30pm (rough end time)

...£5 entry

A really awesome varied bill....

Featuring.....

(apologies for the descriptions, combo of me and someone else being shit...)

THE ARTERIES

A-mazing punkrock from Swansea, new album out just before and touring in support of 'Dead Sea'. For fans of Hot Snakes, Descendents, AC/DC, fugazi, The bronx, 90s punkrock.

RAPSOD
Czech 80s thrash hardcore punk on tour to the UK for the first time, Like Black Flag meets Iron Maiden.

HUMAN STEAK
Czech tourmates of Rapsod. Garage punk thrills for fans of Fugazi, Refused and filthy fucking bass lines

CAUTION HORSES
Dancepunk champs from Brighton and the surrounding areas, Like Devo/Talking Heads having a knifefight, whilst laughing about it casually.

FASHODA CRISIS
This is the sound of angry young men from Essex. Like Mclusky punching Daily Mail readers in the face.

KEPT BY CASINO
Rough edged, angular sounds bring Fugazi, At the Drive in to mind from Brighton. Incredible and flawed in all the right places.

WWII VS DINOSAURS
Scratchy, noisy wail-o-rama from Brighton. Promoter chap said 'Waaves/Rapture' I think Blood Brothers ish myself. Odd and Interesting in all the right ways.

Saturday 18th December 2010

At The Cowley Club (Members + Guests welcome)

OK PILOT (Devon, actually, The UK's finest purveyors of Punkrock'n'roll. Like Hot Snakes, RFTC meets The Bronx with a british accent)

PACER (New-ish band making a massive dent on the UK Punkrock scene with n amazing first record. Feat ex/members of The Steal and others, this is anthemic melodic punkrock-with-balls, just back from playing the Fest, and first release on the Souls label)

THE DEAD BEAT (Brighton/London Post-punk'n'roll, kinda Hot Snakes/Bronx via Fugazi and ripping off loads of other dischord bands - probably last show with current drummer, and maybe last show in a fair while..)

ROOKS (Great new band from ex-phinius gage type(s) - angular riffy punkrock with elements of hardcore and rock'n'roll, basically ace riffs and shouting)

BASTION (First show in over a year - and for this night only featuring Toby of Serf Combat/Heroic Doses infamy on bass guitar - Brighton streetpunk-meets-melodic punk types playing a compact set)

SATURDAY 5th MARCH
The Caroline Of Brunswick, Brighton
8pm Start
Free

NACHT UND NEBEL
cello rumble and scrape.
http://soundcloud.com/nacht-und-nebel-2/
"Bending and scraping and burning and melting and welding and scratching and bowming and woolding and mioyring and wmwmwmorrrring and woaroaroaroaroaroaroaroaroaroaoaroaring and all that good stuff...If you've ever seen Ken Russell's extraordinary film “Altered States” in which William Hurt spends so long inside a series of sensory deprivation tanks that he physically regresses into a monkey, you will be able to imagine the sorts of sounds... these are the sounds your brain starts to make when it hasn't seen, heard, smelt, tasted or felt anything at all during fifteen straight hours of floating in a watery void with only the slight reverberation from your heart for company."

ORGONE ACCUMULATORS
electronic surf rock
http://orgoneaccumulators.bandcamp.com
In Boleskine House and environs, on the banks of Loch Ness, the Fifth Neuro Orgone Research Department have been hard at work since 1986 researching the theory that alien communications from Sirius gave humans the technology to create civilisation as we know it 5000 years ago. The past 5 years have been spent looking at the evidence they have found that the Sirius communications also contained transmissions of music. These arcane waves have now been decoded and translated into sounds that human beings can hear. This is a rare opportunity to witness a live presentation of this.

LUMBERS
piano guitar drone
http://soundcloud.com/lumbers
"This is nice, you think, nice, a nice man playing the piano, nothing could be nicer than a nice man playing the piano; he's probably got one of those smart suits on with the bits that hang down at the back, very smart, very sensible, very nice. Then after about twenty seconds the nice man reveals himself to be some terrifying, Lovecraftian demon and starts mumbling in a baritone about some terrifying foreign stuff....This is not music to listen to should you ever find yourself walking through Victorian London after dark in the fog because it will almost certainly soundtrack your grisly murder."

There will more than likely be one other act to be confirmed.

Re: BRIGHTON GIGS

see for the Cowley Club - how does one go about becoming a member?

Re: BRIGHTON GIGS

you need to come in and fill in a application form (just name and address) get two people to sponsor your application - pretty much anyone behind the bar will do this for you, just say you dont know any members if you don't, or if you do get them to do it - then pay £1. your name will go up on the noticeboard in case anyone has any objections and then you will get approved at the next general meeting (1st monday of every month). then after the meeting just go in and ask for your membership number & card at the bar.

if you are around this weekend come down on saturday during the day and i will be there at the cafe, just ask someone for ellie, and i will help you sort it out and sponsor you. which brings me onto my next point:

Brighton Zine Fest!

Is this weekend.

Saturday evening Gig at the Cowley club with Moloch and Gin Panic doors at 8, £5/donations in
Sunday zine fair at the Hanover community centre 11am-6pm

Re: BRIGHTON GIGS

Sunday, April 24 · 11:00am - 3:00pm Brighton Station:

On the 24th of April we are calling on the people of Brighton to do what they do best. To celebrate what they have in common and to celebrate what makes them different.

We will be protesting in opposition to a far right racist group, that plans to march through Brighton.

As Islamaphobes and racists plan to march through Brighton, under the guise of March for England, Brighton will come together to celebrate all that is good about... our diverse city, and to protest against the far right and racists views of a group of marchers coming from outside of Brighton.

This is an opportunity for all of us to show what to unites us, and our multicultural city.

We have met with other groups wanting to show their opposition to the racism of March for England, and together we have agreed the best way to do this is to gather at Brighton station, by the bus stops, at 11 o'clock with banners and signs. the MfE march will be gathering at the station at 11.30, but the size if opposition to them in Brighton will be very clear.
