i don't think yanks really 'get' fascism or exactly why it's such beef in europe, anyone remember that band plot to blow up the eiffel tower when they toured the u.s. dressed as nazi's but pussied out of it in europe? sure i heard something similar about slayer actually
i own records by bands who's opinions i don't agree with, but broadly speaking it doesn't disgust/offend me, there are odd exceptions but it's largely one or two out of hundreds and certainly not the main focus of whatever band, nevermind thier entire subgenre. all this gobby suburbanite punx riding nsbm/far right noise stuff just seem like kids trying to rebel and show how badass they are, like slipknot for half arsed philosophy undergrads
Your second point is exactly what I was trying to say (badly) a few pages back. The point being that I'd see no contradiction with listening to somebody coming from a different viewpoint as long as the lyrics weren't downright offensive, or excessively distasteful. I listen to some crimethinc/y type stuff but have to draw the line with Stza sometimes as much as I love LOC/CV.
There is definately a bit of a trend for kids here getting out of metal/punx to start 'english folk' type black metal, with loads of borderline statements, sunwheels etc. There was a Wolves in the Throne Room gig here where some of those types brought along a load of sketchy pamphlets, and tried to defend their stances with long winded weak circular logic on our local idiot board afterwards.
It's more that when people start to defend or apologise for shitty attitudes that it sticks in the throat a bit. I was ragging on Bad Brains a bit back, but nobody was trying to apologise for what they were saying in those albums at the time.
