Re: best movie soundtracks

Black Caesar gets my vote. Superfly and Shaft probably fighting for second place.

Excellent collection of Appalachian folk+union songs with a substantial amount of the OST by the almighty Hazel Dickens

Hadn't heard this, but it's bloody brilliant! The film, less so

Re: best movie soundtracks

Lalo Schifrin's unused score for the Exorcist was circulating around social media a little while ago. It is fucking TUFF

Best exemplified in the banned trailer:

yeah, thought the film was fun for about the first half an hour then it went down hill. the visuals and music kept me watching though. not enough good sci fi these days. sad

Re: best movie soundtracks

Been spinning the It Follows soundtrack quite a bit lately. Not exactly calming.

Re: best movie soundtracks

I enjoyed the 'You're Next' soundtrack which is basically just this Dwight Twilley song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Voa_7sLL7dQ) at the beginning of the film, and then a cover of it at the end.

Highly obvious suggestion but I watched 'A Fistful of Dollars' on Tuesday for the first time & soundtrack was blinding.

Yeah, picked this up the other day. Decent

Yep. Speaking of Michael Mann, was gonna throw the 'Heat' soundtrack in too, but it's got that dodgy Brian Eno/U2 collaboration on it so maybe not. More recently I loved the overall soundtrack to 'Inherent Vice', absolutely bangin'.
