Topic: Anyone in Bristol want to start a band/need a guitarist?

Anyone wanna start a band?

I like bands like american football, potboiler, last days of april, sun kil moon, algernon etc

Looking to play anything fun, twiddly, indie, emo, post-rocky, posi, gruff, punk

Nothing too serious, just wanting to get back to playing music with other people after a good few years away from it.

Have own gear and transport.

Hit me up!

Bump maybe? I'm bored. Would play guitar or bass, I'm down for whatever like Kelly Roland.

Re: Anyone in Bristol want to start a band/need a guitarist?

Any drummers out there looking for a band? We play garagy pop punk/indie. Some of it is pretty fast.

We like:

>> Lawrence Arms
>> Latterman
>> Archers of Loaf
>> Dinosaur Jr
>> Spraynard
>> Menzingers
>> Samiam
>> Hot water music

We live and practice in Bristol. We usually get together for about one evening per week. It would be helpful if you had your own kit, or at least own set of breakables.

The songs are pretty simple, but varied and fun to play. Things are pretty casual at the moment, but we do intend to eventually record a demo and play some gigs, so no unreliable time wasters please.

awww man! have you got room for a bass player? I totally want to be in this band! pretty please xo

Re: Anyone in Bristol want to start a band/need a guitarist?

Unfortunately not; Just on the lookout for a drummer at the minute!

Quite hard to come by one that falls into the categories of a)good drummer b)not a dickhead c)into the same music

And by quite hard I mean seemingly impossible.

Re: Anyone in Bristol want to start a band/need a guitarist?

that blows! well I'm moving down to bristol in the next couple of weeks, so if you know anyone that's looking for a bass player (or a temp flatmate actually), let me know.

what's bristol like for punk bands at the moment anyways? I only really know caves.

Re: Anyone in Bristol want to start a band/need a guitarist?

Erm, as far as bands FROM Bristol, I only know of Caves as well. There are a couple of terrible crust bands I've seen too that I believe were local. I certainly wouldn't have paid them to travel, anyway.

Deadpunk put on some really good shows quite frequently though.

Was on the other day.

This month there's Menzingers and Latterman playing, so there's a decent scene.

The owners of The Croft (where most of these gigs are held) have just opened a new venue called The Exchange (where the above alldayer was the first show). I'm not sure what the plan is as far as putting on shows there though. The basement stage is a little unfortunately laid out behind some pre-cast beams but it's a supercool venue if they start putting on stuff there. Beesting cider at both venues too. Worth a mention.

From practicing at RS Studios I'd say there's a pretty lively metal scene here, if that's your bag? Every band there seems to be moshtastic.

Re: Anyone in Bristol want to start a band/need a guitarist?

oh I'm definitely gonna be there for Latterman! I don't do metal though. I'm only really interested in playing punk/emo, maybe some fast, dirty hardcore at a push.

I've just found somewhere to stay for the next month, so I'm gonna be moving down next weekend.

see you around

Re: Anyone in Bristol want to start a band/need a guitarist?

Anyone? Anyone got any advice on how to get any interest? We haven't had a peep!

Re: Anyone in Bristol want to start a band/need a guitarist?

Are you still on the hunt for a drummer? I'm hoping by now you might of found someone? I'm not aware of many who are free but if you put a note up at BIMM you might get lucky.

Thanks for the kind words about Deadpunk shows. 2013's got a bunch of good stuff in it already and we're working on the All Dayer for August as I type this.

Re: Anyone in Bristol want to start a band/need a guitarist?

Yeah just looking for a singer now; even harder.

Arteries, RVIVR and Iron Chic all in the first quarter. Keep up the good work Dave!
