good work on the title. made me laugh.

Re: Workin' Man Noise Unit

get these dudes on to play a show if you like guitars that sound like chainsaws and screamin and effects like men lost at sea howlin in the wind and rain and drums like an elephant bashing down a baobab

Re: Workin' Man Noise Unit

Really like the demo guys. Would be well up for putting you on for a kingston show sometime in the near future if youre game?

yoyoyo

just thought that some of you *may* want to know that you can buy the tape now for £4 plus postage.  there are only 50.

http://doubledotdash.bandcamp.com/album … -stella-to

you can download it for "pay what you want" from that link also.

had a cool review too:

"This is heatsick, tight and unpleasant stuff, but it all so sounds so cool, like an effortless meander into a factory, turning on all the machines and then playing an old Melvins tape that's been kicked around your car's floor for years at full whack through a battered old ghetto blaster."

they're also gonna be playing the SUPERNORMAL festival in the summer.

Re: Workin' Man Noise Unit

had a couple of other rad reviews...

"This tape came through the post last week, which on first glance had that piss-take look to it, with a naked dude on the cover, hand scribbled beer jokes in the insert and a Stella based play on the classic Spacemen 3 album name. I didn't expect a groovy version of the Melvin's when i threw the tape on though? I think i was expecting some stupid fast punk band based on thecover, instead we get some classic mid 90's pigfuck noise punk ala Melvin's, Tad, Hammerhead and whoever else graced the Amphetemine Reptile label. I think the best update on this sound has to be Pissed Jeans last 3 faultless records, and whilst these 6 songs pack less of a punch, they will no doubt be be a new band to check out for peeps who miss those noise-y AmRep days."

"Unpleasantries via the UK with this cassette from Workin’ Man Noise Unit. The type of cassette that you already have a pretty clear understanding as to what actually lies on that tape inside of it. As such, I didn’t need to read much of the letter that came with it. In fact, I could have just flipped it over and saw the drawing of construction worker standing atop a mountain of skulls while holding a beer and pissing all over them and drawn the same conclusion in a matter of seconds. That’s really better than some bio anyway. Needless to say, if you haven’t gotten the idea that Workin’ Man Noise Unit is in fact a noisy rock band in the spirit of Drunks With Guns, Killdozer, or really just about anything AmRep related in the earlier days…then…well they are. Six songs in total here that lays on looping feedback for pretty much every track that gives it the feel of a psych-rock record gone terribly terribly awry. Their crowning achievement on it has to be the eight minute long “Sweat it Out”. A track that just snowballs its way into a pretty satisfying and disgusting mess by the end of things. I would suggest that these guys get out of Reading…but if it’s going to spawn this type of greasy sleazeball shit…then I just can’t."

in short, buy the tape before we run out and/or book the band before they break up.  etc.

/|\/|\/|\ THAT IS THE JAM! /|\/|\/|\
              \/\/ | |_ |> 5 !

Re: Workin' Man Noise Unit

we need a drummer. get in touch if you can hit the drums hard, stay in time most of the time & live in or relatively close to Reading. doesn't matter if you aren't much good at playing drums cos neither are we.

do you have an age? a gender? a sexual orientation? a dietary preference? a passion for fine wines? teetotal? are you a total weirdo in every possible way? regardless of yr age, gender, etc, none of these are a barrier or advantage to being in this band. (although being a total weirdo is encouraged) i know we have the word MAN in our band name but that doesn't mean you have to be a MAN to be in the band. obviously. or WORKIN' for that matter... the unemployed are also welcome. anyone who isn't a total arsehole really. partial arseholes welcome.

i guess you just need to like playing rock n roll or punk or noise or weird music or whatever. that's probably the other condition. we wanna release a full length record plus some other stuff. and play some shows.

you can hear some songs we wrote at workinmannoiseunit.bandcamp.com. PM me if you are interested in having a jam sometime.

Re: Workin' Man Noise Unit

cheers for the kind words.

we're doing a few shows out & about with sly & the family drone, starting this friday. our show in southampton on saturday 15th fell through so if anyone wants their gig mucking up by having a crummy rock n roll band come play too, well, we'd happily be that crummy rock n roll band. we've had a lot of practice.
