Topic: Gun Outfit

New album sounds swish. Yo.

I like music.

Re: Gun Outfit

Just saw it in a distro by chance and instantly ordered. Excited to hear it! Really hope they come back as they were smashing last time.

Re: Gun Outfit

As time goes on, they get better. The first song even has some flamin' groovies in the guitar at points! They should come back and bring broken water with them.

I like music.

That would be brilliant and would make complete sense. I think there was talk of Broken Water making it over this year, so hopefully at least the seed has been planted.

Re: Gun Outfit

oh man let that happen

Re: Gun Outfit

New album is excellent. Three great albums on the bounce, plus an equally noteworthy 12" on the way through. That's some run.

I'm not into that.

Re: Gun Outfit

only heard one song of the new LP but it sounds great.

them and Broken Water on the same stage would be an evening well spent

Re: Gun Outfit

Had a few goes on this now and it really is a smasher. I wouldn't necessarily say it's their best as a whole, but a few of the songs have jumped out instantly as being some of their strongest. It's all very Gun Outfity without feeling like they're doing exactly the same thing.

Re: Gun Outfit

The song "Death Drive" is definitely one of their best tunes.

This record really reminds me of Crayon, a bit of Comet Gain and ditch-period Neil Young along with the usual Sonic Youth flavours.

If I knew more about the limper end of the K catalogue, I could probably find more pertinent references.

I'm not into that.

Re: Gun Outfit

Really can't wait for my copy to show up.

Re: Gun Outfit

Borrowed this from Oli P above for a listen and it's really great.

Re: Gun Outfit

any uk distros carrying this?

Re: Gun Outfit

what label is it on?

Re: Gun Outfit

Really great record, some of the same songs as the limited odds-and-sods tape they put out last year (different versions)

Re: Gun Outfit

totally into this.. awesome record!

Re: Gun Outfit

it's on PPM

norman have it for £11, so i think they'll get my cash

yeah, some 'proper' recordings of the songs on that tape from last year - hope the first song on that tape sees the light of day sometime

Re: Gun Outfit

finally got this on the turntable, such a good record

not bad!

Re: Gun Outfit

Tax dodgers can get it for £9 postage paid on Amazon!

I'm not into that.

Re: Gun Outfit

cripes.

so it's on a uk label? (Pias UK) guess that explains why it's cheaper.

Re: Gun Outfit

I think Pias is a distribution company rather than a label, and PPM have a distribution deal with em by the look of it

Re: Gun Outfit

ah ok, that makes more sense.

Re: Gun Outfit

PIAS is Vital distribution.

Re: Gun Outfit

so what is the best gun outfit record then?

possession sound for me. just spot on pacing, great songs, does no wrong.

Re: Gun Outfit

'Hard coming down' definitely for me. Seems like them perfecting their style. Similar to 'Possession Sound' in brilliant pacing and every song is so memorable. My most hummed thing at the moment.

Have always enjoyed Possession Sound and Dim Light quite equally. Maybe Posession Sound a little more. Love the High Places 12" too - that last song "White Light" ranks as one of my favourites of theirs. Gun Outfit are pretty perfect really. Gagging for a second visit to the UK.
