Yep, Sabbat - Dreamweaver

This album is way beyond almost everything lyrically.

You don't remember me...........do you.

i reckon the best Converge album is When Forever Comes Crashing. still love those brief few years of absolutely incredible stuff for that kind of thing. American Nervoso/Until Your Heart Stops/Under The Running Board/Calculating Infinity/Functioning On Impatience. so fucking good.

I'm back in school again.

Damo pretty much covered it all.

I stick by the not following bands with dick head fans policy too. It's done me proud down the years.

You not into Kiss?

Re: records that made you go "woah.. hang on.. wait a sec"

apart from a few tunes i don't reckon Kiss really cut it.

i eat up 70s rock. both the heavy stuff and the super poppy stuff but Kiss have never quite done anything for me

98-2001 = best period in hardcore.

I recently gave "Revolution" by Coalesce a spin again after a long time, still great

Also even earlier when those sorts of bands were doing a more melodic style of hardcore (if someone told me to check out a current melodic hardcore band, my brain would instantly be sick over itself). Absolutely love the really early Converge and Cave In stuff when they were ripping off Rorschach, Slayer and early emo. Although I do think everything by Converge is amazing from their very beginning up to 'You Fail Me'. Can't say the same about Cave In, although some of their later stuff was good (Tides of Tomorrow/Jupiter).

As it's been mentioned, 'Beyond Hypothermia' was one of the very first hardcore records I heard and I remember feeling under attack by those vocals. Definitely one of those revelationary moments. Still far and away the best Cave In stuff for me.

I remember when I first heard beyond hyperthermia and with a few exceptions like unbroken, I wasn't even aware hardcore could be that good. It was like a cross between everything I loved at that point (Slayer metal, screamo and straight edge hardcore). I think I listened to everyday on my walkman on the way to college for about 3 months.

definitely for that kind of thing. i think that the Botch/Converge/Cave In/DEP etc sound was different enough from their precursors like Rorschach/Deadguy/Kiss It Goodbye etc to stand as it's own thing. And also there's been occasional bands rivalling that sound since. Call it proto and post if you like. For that kind of sound it was 77/82/88/revsummer etc.
