i reckon the best Converge album is When Forever Comes Crashing. still love those brief few years of absolutely incredible stuff for that kind of thing. American Nervoso/Until Your Heart Stops/Under The Running Board/Calculating Infinity/Functioning On Impatience. so fucking good.
98-2001 = best period in hardcore.
Also even earlier when those sorts of bands were doing a more melodic style of hardcore (if someone told me to check out a current melodic hardcore band, my brain would instantly be sick over itself). Absolutely love the really early Converge and Cave In stuff when they were ripping off Rorschach, Slayer and early emo. Although I do think everything by Converge is amazing from their very beginning up to 'You Fail Me'. Can't say the same about Cave In, although some of their later stuff was good (Tides of Tomorrow/Jupiter).
As it's been mentioned, 'Beyond Hypothermia' was one of the very first hardcore records I heard and I remember feeling under attack by those vocals. Definitely one of those revelationary moments. Still far and away the best Cave In stuff for me.
