Topic: Manchester

Hi, I'm going to presume this is an OK place to post.
Basically I've just got a flat in the Northern Quarter and wanting to know what promo companies to keep an eye on and what bars/pubs to check out. I'm originally from the Mold/Chester area who got stranded in Stowmarket for 3 years; so my girlfriend and I decided to jump ship and move to Manchester; re-invigorate our lives!

I'm easy when it comes to music - haven't been to a gig in so long. I'd be happy going to a bar that maybe has good jazz, blues, acoustic, surf, emo, indie and hardcore - obviously not all on one night ha ha! But yeah, I'm not a 'club' guy and don't drink so it's more about the music and atmosphere.

Any recommendations?!

Re: Manchester

i dont live there but keep an eye out for GIANT HELL - also Comfortable On A Tightrope do great DIY shows

Re: Manchester

Played in Manchester the other day at the Star and Garter which was right opposite a station but I forget which.
It had a good sound and I understand they do other hardcore shows there.
The car park out the back contains the largest amount of used condoms I have ever seen. There were more used condoms than cigarette butts. It was a sight, I can tell you.

Re: Manchester

That would be due to that exact area being infamous for the haunt of a certain profession.

Indeed, I'd be worried if there were no condoms there.

I'm not into that.
