Topic: Guitar shipping

Hi,
Can anyone help me with some up-to-date info on what the best, most economical way to ship a guitar within the UK is? And how much it might cost? Hope it's not a stupid question...

Cheers!

Re: Guitar shipping

Book a courier through a broker like parcel 2 go will cost about 10 quid for next day dayy delivery.

Be warned though if its not in a hard case they wont cover you for insurance.

I sent one the other day and City LInk picked it up arrived next day no problem.

With guitars you need to make sure you pack them really well and ensure you support the areas that are likely to break through courier mishandling like neck and headstock joins.

ALso dont get suckered in to booking a cheap courier that will deliver in 3 or 4 days as that increases the chance of some idiot chucking it around a warehouse and destroying. General rule is get it delivered as quick as possible next day if you can and avoid sending it on a friday or a day when it will be left lying around over the weekend in a warehouse or a van.

Any questions let me know, I have bought and sold loads of guitars and am a trained instrument maker.

Great, thanks! Apparently there's also this helpful site: http://www.shiply.com

The situation is actually that I want to buy a guitar off someone who wasn't originally offering postage. They don't have a case for it so I may have to re-think this whole idea, but thanks for the info. Good to know!

Re: Guitar shipping

Do not use Parcelforce unless you want the guitar damaged, nicked or pissed on. They are shit.

Fuck you I've got a Manowar shopping bag
