Re: Politically ambiguous black metal

I can feel an inevitable rant coming on for next weekend...

Re: Politically ambiguous black metal

These proud knights are playing Temples (Templars) Festival in Bristol next weekend. Their music will wake the sleeping giants of Albion, return Thule to the realm and probably send all manner of buggers back.

We're playing the next day, to what will no doubt have become an "ethnically British" audience.

I'm not into that.

Re: Politically ambiguous black metal

I bet the Romans were always going on about how these bloody Anglo Saxons were coming over here and diluting their culture. Does anyone want to start a Roman Heritage Black Metal band? At least then we can use Vs instead of Us and not be called hipsters.

Re: Politically ambiguous black metal

I think there are Roman-themed BM bands already, eg. http://www.metal-archives.com/albums/Pa … a%29/79858

Re: Politically ambiguous black metal

OK - we'll call it Octobris - which is what the month was originally called before these bloody Anglo-Saxons came over here and started with their Winterfylleth nonsense.

I'm planning on whiting up for the occasion...

Being"Civically British", "passing" and "working hard and keeping your head down" are all acceptable interim measures until the next Winterfylleth CD comes out, Leo.

I'm not into that.

I'm picturing this lad pulling this face while trying to get through Discipline and Punish or Prison Notebooks... Im constantly amused by the far rights obsession with the Frankfurt school an all...

Re: Politically ambiguous black metal

Misread topic title as 'Politically ambitious Black Metal' which this stuff clearly isn't.

Still, dig the Grateful Dead sticker in that pic.

Unbelievable. And very brave.

Re: Politically ambiguous black metal

"Blues for Allah" got a whole new meaning.

I'm not into that.

Elements of the far-right are into critical theory? I didn't know that.

How does that work? I can see the Heidegger thing but how could you get anything useful out of Adorno, or even more bizarre, Benjamin?

Re: Politically ambiguous black metal

*two paragraphs of paranoid ranting*

THE MEDIA ARE TRYING TO MAKE US PARANOID!

I think he was trying to translate Gramsci's ideas into inferring there was some kind of Chomskyian manufacture of consent with regard to the media's fostering of oppressive P.C. ideas on the good people of dear Ole Blighty. Pointy guitars.

It's not as strange as that, just bog standard conspiracy theories going on about cultural marxism, the EU and so on and so forth... Now they're all cultural nationalists and so on, rather than proud race warriors they've tried to make it look like they've done the reading to back it all up... You'd think they would be lining up with Adorno to criticise Jazz as entartete Kunst though, they've missed a trick there...

You can obviously find much less salubrious meditations on the theme at the usual places...

Cultural Marxism or 'Bolshevism' was also a common Nazi trope, anyhow, so it's hardly anything new:

"Before I give my own review of this book I just want to say that I am a huge harry potter fan, to the extent that I actually have a deathly hallows tattoo on my bottom. I'm also quite ill right now, but I fought against my horrid cold to read this book. "

anyone want a Winterfylleth CD?

I understand you're supposed to ignore this poster but seriously?

Re: Politically ambiguous black metal

I find your support of pro-right wing music pretty offensive to be honest.
