Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

saw Van Pelt just down the road from where I live now - they were fucking decent

think Sin-Eaters played with em - they were a bacon of tits

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

Broccoli also played.

The Van Pelt were fucking good.

I like music.

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

lucky old bastards. wink

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

not that lucky, saw Jacob's Mouse about 1,000 times

Added: 13-08-2014 15:28:08

saw Born Against too ... hahaha

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

How many times did you see Senser? Please put the best gig of theirs into words. Really set the scene for us.

I like music.

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

i saw them about 7 times

best one was at a place called Camden Palace, now an east coast abattoir. the skinhead midget guy was potent in Arabic and got furious with the Eject as the curly haired girl whined like greased-up petty crimes. drinks were pricy, so I stayed on the fizz and there was an acute Rollins-band vibe, maybe due to any lurking Credit To The Nation dance troopers. it enough to convince me to stay for the Utah Saints

next week: how I bicycled with The Pooh Sticks

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

I used to like Jacob's Mouse when I was 14 were they the subject of much ridicule by the older kids?

Van Pelt were very good when I saw them a couple of times a few years back - better than back in the day even.

EDIT out of interest, why did the Notts gig fall through?

I'll drink enough of anything to make this world seem new again

Was gonna say, you seemed to like Braid when we started a moshpit at the Garage last year..

they still weren't as good as they were in 98 though wink

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

I love how 'poor tickets sales were to blame' but almost every single band has rebooked individual or joint gigs which were sold out within 10 minutes during a Wednesday afternoon on the internet

I'm probably not going to any gigs

still at least there are plenty of other things to do

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

holding out for a van pelt matinee, otherwise i will be sitting on my arse watching the opening day of the premier league all day. could be worse.

I'm already seeing Neko Case and Jeff Lewis but shafted Jabberwocky folks should get on this post-haste.

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

argh. already got expensive NMH tickets, and now Van Pelt have cancelled the shacklewell appearance (ATP contractual obligations? what a bag of cocks ATP are).

Yeah - I think the Excel may've been a little over-ambitious in terms of capacity based on the amount of people that could realistically be expected to show up for such a line-up.

Also, the ATP line-ups have sometimes seemed a little all over the place. Several people I've spoken to said they wanted to see a couple of the bands on the bill, but not for £70 when there was nothing else on the bill they were interested in.

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

i'd love to know how many they sold vs how many they needed to sell to go ahead, if it wasn't some other reason entirely.

aaaaaaaahhh! i literally pooed.

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

This is the 2nd or 3rd Jabberwocky meltdown gig being put on by ATP themselves by the way. What a world.

Yeah I think the overwhelming popularity of the fallout events is due to just this. Most people I know fall into this category and are falling over themselves to pick through the bones without ever having wanted to attend the event itself.

You have to question whether it was a good idea to put an expensive festival on in London in the first place considering we're spoilt over-privileged twats for stuff to do in the first place.

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

a festival for jaded old indie dudes that hate leaving the house and making eye contact just seems like the height of foolishness to me.

i missed out on VP which is pretty gutting as they were a big pull for me.

I thought the Jabberwocky line up was great tbh... at least a dozen bands I'd actively wanna watch and a dozen more yeah-why-nots...

The fallout has been amusing/excrutiating.

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

matthew - thanks, I will be there I hope

Added: 14-08-2014 17:37:30

hold on - 4.30 - what the fuck?

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

That could work for me - straight there from work, nip home for me tea and out again for the van pelt.

I like music.

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

Managed to sort Mick Turner and Ben Frost for tonight, then The Bug tomorrow and Oh Sees on Sunday.
