Topic: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

This just got cancelled. If anybody knows if any of the bands are arranging other shows then please post here, cheers!

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

Cloud Nothings are arranging a show in London: https://twitter.com/cloud_nothings

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

so fucking gutted. was so excited about seeing nils frahm, sun kil moon, van pelt and heckling hookworms. sad

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

Gutted, fingers crossed van pelt still happens somewhere
Would have been awesome to see Sun Kil Moon, Cloud Nothings and Nils Frahm again, never seen Kurt Vile either

I'm down Friday til Monday - any other recommendations if no gigs happen?
Any good exhibitions?

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

There's Chimpyfest at T Chances this weekend with Water Torture, Massgrav and a load of Euro Grind bands

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

was beyond excited about van pelt and sun kil moon and nmh, was really looking forward to pissed jeans and forest swords and vatican shadow and nils frahm too. also was interested in the lee gamble afterparty set. can't think of much else i've been more disappointed by.

Pissed Jeans and Earth (!!!!!!!) are playing together at Birthdays on Saturday night.

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

Problem is: all these other gigs getting arranged is good for the bands but we're talking about thousands of people (plus people who never had Jab tickets) trying to get into Birthdays or Lexington... these are gonna sell out in seconds, and it's gonna be a lottery of when I can check my phone at work. Ball-ache. And if I do get a ticket, I doubt my friends will too so I'm gonna be on my own (which ain't the end of the world but it's my fucking BIRTHDAY *sob*).

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

any news on Mick Turner shows?

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

Mick Turner is playing in Reading on Saturday - only 25 mins from Paddington, if you can be bothered to travel.

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

i noticed the same thing about the dash terms of sale not jibing with the announcement atp made when i was trying to work out how to get a refund. just received an email from ATP who are claiming no responsibility:

"Hi James, and apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

As the company who accepted your payment, Dash Tickets are your point
of sale contact to issue your refund, and are obligated to do so.

[email protected]

If there are any issues, your next point of contact should your card
provider or Paypal, depending on your payment method, to order a
charge back of your purchase amount.

Many thanks."

lol. what a fucking hassle.

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

I don't fully understand the story of how ATP still exist. Didn't they go bankrupt last year or something?

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

good time to revisit this stool pigeon article - http://www.thestoolpigeon.co.uk/feature … world.html

"A question also arises about how the debts may affect Willwal’s cashflow and ability to stage future events, and whether the debts could have an impact on ticket prices (there’s been no evidence of any change so far)."

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

well the 'free gig' thing with the van pelt was a bust. tickets went up and were gone during my lunch break. no doubt it'll be full of people who don't even care about TVP (not their fault of course but annoying). really, really crushed about missing out on possibly my only chance of seeing my favourite band of all time.

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

just console yourself with the that it's not 1998 any more and they'll just be a bunch of old folk playing songs that meant a whole lot more to them 16 years ago.

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

ha. probably true. chris leo was great on his own when we saw him a few years back though and i regretted not seeing braid so vowed i wouldn't make the same mistake again. bleh. sad

crushing, where were the tickets listed?

edit: heard it was billetto

I hate the internet frenzy that accompanies this melt down, I might go see Ultimate Painting on the sunday but so far got nothing else lined up....

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

yeah, i am pretty sure vp would be great, was just trying to soften the blow wink

Exactly

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

i got a van pelt ticket, though apparently that's not even a guarantee of getting in as it's deliberately oversubscribed...

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

2009
Vs
those olden days

Didn't a few people off here go to Denver to see them?
What were they like when they played Manchester Star & Garter (and the like) back in the 90s?
Maybe I should convince myself Saturday would have been horrendous

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

This free gig thing at the Shackwell looks chaotic

we came..

SO close to sorting a Van Pelt show in Notts. Made sense, away from all the chaos in London, as was gonna be alongside a London show for people who can't get out of the capitol. Woulda been a headlining show too, not a weird all day oversold thing or a tiny venue.. oh well.. we tried.

Was gonna say, you seemed to like Braid when we started a moshpit at the Garage last year..

Re: ATP jaberwocky cancelled

sent a long-ass email to dash tickets explaining why literally everything about their claim that i have to claim my refund through ATP is completely illegal, they sent me a form letter in response saying... to claim my refund through ATP. ell oh ell.

dash tickets don't appear to be a member of the society for ticketing agents & retailers and them claiming to have fronted money to ATP is distinctly dodgy because that money should not have been sent to ATP prior to the event actually happening. kind of looking like dash might have had some kind of wink-wink deal with ATP so that they can immediately start using funds from ticket sales to finance the whole thing. smells pretty seriously of conspiracy to defraud. might actually hold off on getting a refund so i can press criminal charges just for the lols.
