Topic: Screamo 2015/16

I've been making randomised MP3 mixes from my iTunes library and I swear 50% of it is screamo, meaning that 50% of the music I own is screamo :-/

Still up for chatting about it. Resurrectionists playing their last two gigs was awesome. Nothing came out in 2014 that springs to mind that really interested in me. But I like Amygdala from what I've heard. Enoch Ardon are hopefully touring here in March - they've been a Euro band that I've loved, particularly the early stuff.

I plan on making an obscure (but good) screamo band MP3 mix of cool bands that people may not have heard of. I'll post it up if I do x

nuture are cool too. early stuff is a lot like IHM. the last two songs on the 2012 demo are incredible - https://nurture.bandcamp.com/album/post … our-pocket i think they are doing one final 2015 release and then calling it a day

Re: Screamo 2015/16

Yeah Hot Cross meets Yaphet Kotto or something, totally early 00smo

Re: Screamo 2015/16

I'm looking forward to the Old Soul/Recreant split. I enjoy Old Soul's take on the epic screamo soundscape.

Hello, how are you today?

yeah, it's great. more stuff like this, less screamo post-rock crossover nonsense

-

this is a 100 song mixtape of contemporary screamo. it's a bit of a chore to get through as there is a lot of derivative stuff, but there are some gems

Re: Screamo 2015/16

yeah we were asked to be on that but I am a useless mess of a human

Re: Screamo 2015/16

Never bothered checking out For Want Of because the name was a turn off (always immediately makes me think of For Today no idea why beyond short band names with "For" at the start of them) but a cursory listen through now reveals that they are indeed pretty cool.

Hello, how are you today?

Re: Screamo 2015/16

really enjoyed Cassus from Norwich last time I saw them - total Ampere worship from a bunch of yoofs. Think they're doing a 12" this year.

Re: Screamo 2015/16

some new Tempest material would be lovely, they're coming over in the summer (playing CMAR at least) so hopefully have some new songs with them

Re: Screamo 2015/16

Nat from Cassus sometimes buys records off me so you know their heart is in the right place big_smile

Also he once delivered me a pizza.

A+ would order pizza again.

I heard somewhere that Cassus were going to tour with Republic of Dreams this year, to be honest I was under the impression both bands had stopped doing stuff so reading this was/is a nice surprise!

Re: Screamo 2015/16

oh i should listen to lord snow!
i considered buying the last daitro lp, but i like the lp before that more and baton rouge even more more

I'm not sure about the UK, I think I saw React with Protest post about it on facebook as I think they're doing the Cassus record and it might be around CMAR, so maybe April time?! (particularly vague I know haha)

Re: Screamo 2015/16

No UK dates yet, they (RoD) are definitely on my wishlist at the moment.

Re: Screamo 2015/16

The Trembling Hands lp from last year was dead good.

Mr Gerbik, Half-shark, half-man, skin like an alligator.  Carrying a dead walrus. Check it.
