Topic: Temples festival

Is anyone going to temples in Bristol at the end of the month? Pretty great line up if you're into that kind of thing.

Re: Temples festival

Quite fancied it, but lack of money/travelling companions beat me down.

Glad that I'll be able to catch a few of the bands I really wanted to see (Portal, Impetuous Ritual, Enabler...) at least.

Re: Temples festival

Yeah, I'm going. Should be alright. Mainly going for beers and chats, but the line up in solid.

Re: Temples festival

The guy who runs this said it costs 1.2 million bucks to get Rush to play your gig.

Re: Temples festival

This was awesome...Earth were the best band...other highlights: Sunn, KENmode, Portal, Nails, Trap Them, Enabler, Will Haven, Converge and Goatsnake. Find Torche and Pallbearer's records a bit boring but they were good fun live. Good vibe for the weekend too...as well as quality food and drink.

Food was bad. Only vegan thing was chips for £2.50 (and I'm not vegan before someone starts). The promoters can cry about being let down by caterers but the buck stops with them.

They ran out of beer one night (other than that small beer tent, the only choices were cans of Stripe or Cider anyway)

I found it all a bit shittly organised, sound wasn't great, seemed way too busy... I loved seeing friends and watching bands but the rest of it? Nah.

Re: Temples festival

haha - you're the first person I've heard be negative about it but fair enough :-)

Re: Temples festival

Meat based food was pretty good...

I'm just a massive downer on most things. Zero fun.

Re: Temples festival

My mate predicted Swans, Melvins and Godflesh for next year, based on them not booking bands that have played before.
Although it looks like they have sold a stack of tickets for the next one without announcing anything

Re: Temples festival

Here's an announcement about 2016's event.
I have emboldified the parts that irritate me.

Patrons of Temples Festival,

It feels good to be back.

Following the completion of our second edition, we're now rapidly approaching our favourite part of the year - announcement time.

With that in mind, to say we're simply 'raising the bar' again with what we have in place for Temples 2016 would be a vast understatement. We have something truly monumental planned for our Patron's enjoyment, thankfully you'll get a taster of what's in store in the not too distant future:

10/08/15 - 7pm (GMT)

Mark that time and date in your respective diaries, we have no doubt that you're already waiting patiently, and as ever - we're expecting you.......

Strength & Honour.

I know I'm namby pamby pc as fuck but "Strength and Honour" sounds like something a big racist would say.

all barbarians are racist.

Re: Temples festival

Sounds like something a marketing intern would drop on the floor of The Grim Guzzler in Blackrock Depths. A nice WOW joke for you there.

I should do limbo because that completely flew over my head.

There's a joke about raising the bar and limbo in there somewhere

Re: Temples festival

Is it just me or is Temples just a celebration of bands who peaked a long time ago but are now guaranteed seat fillers due to people not going to see them when they toured shitty venues and lost money the 1st time round.

I like Temples though, i don`t go but i live local and its a good opportunity to meet up for food and drinks over the weekend with travelling freaks

oh and whilst Barbarians may have strength, i doubt they`d have honour. Maybe a paladin would say that though?

Is it just me, or is that line up completely unworthy of the hyped up blog post of theirs that you quoted earlier?

Re: Temples festival

MARE are playing. can't really top that.

Re: Temples festival

So, this flopped, hard. If anyone is in bristol and stuck for things to do this weekend EEL and The Wankys are playing at the Red Lion on Sunday 5th June.
