well my list as of beginning of April was:-

Re: Best of 2016: mid-way report

Haven't found quite as much amazing new stuff as I'd have liked so far... Nothing has screamed ALBUM OF THE YEAR yet but these are all pretty tasty:

Body/Full of Hell - One Day You Will Ache Like I Ache
Bowie - Blackstar
ERP - Ancient Lights (Hubble Telescope Series Vol. 2)
Head Wound City - A New Wave of Violence
Ital Tek - Hollowed
Marching Church - Coming Down:Sessions in April
Merlin Tonto - Baotou
Mortgage - Get Psyched, Get... Sad?
Native Ray - s/t
Not Waving - Animals
Paula Temple FACT Mix
Plebeian Grandstand - False Highs, True Lows
Simmer - Paper Prisms
Xiu Xiu - Plays the Music of Twin Peaks

And Weak Boys - Good One Sydney is the best, and only, 7" I've heard this year. If they can keep that up the album will be amazing.

Re: Best of 2016: mid-way report

human hands - morning sun
soul structure - true love
crows an wra - kakotopia
pantha du prince - the triad
deftones - gore

didn't realise that new gold panda record was out, based on the track i heard pre-release i bet it'll go straight into my list also.

Re: Best of 2016: mid-way report

human hands (don't thing anyone can top this record this year, it's rediculously beautiful)
human hands / blue period split
soul structure
nothing
tapestry
diiv
hurry

not into the kind of new direction the new wild nothing record took, but maybe i need to listen more..

Re: Best of 2016: mid-way report

Need to give that diiv record another go cause I wasn't feeling it first time around. The Puce Mary and Pentagram Home Video LPs stand out from memory but need to go through what I've bought and listened to before compiling a list

Re: Best of 2016: mid-way report

Yeah I need to go back and revisit both Diiv & Wild Nothing because neither one grabbed me on the first couple of listens.

Re: Best of 2016: mid-way report

anyone know of any decent end of year lists for punk, hardcore etc? been combing through the fact, quietus and pitchfork ones the last couple of days but not many of their choices are scratching my punk itch.
