This lot are ex-Scalped, which makes stylistic sense as they mix up a bunch of different hefty styles as they bring their fast, charging hardcore to bear. Primal Rite, though, are more effective as they go about it and a lot more convincing to boot, smashing together death metal influences, a Bastard-esque cloak of invulnerability and the chunky chun of 90s hc stalwarts like Strain or Unbroken. The spectre of Power Trip also looms large, and while 'Dirge Of Escapism' sure ain't no 'Nightmare Logic' it's nevertheless a strong and effective release in its own right. Rite? Right.
