Bob's back, 'n' he's Braidless. Goin' solo. Bob Nanna is my hero. He even replied (albeit it on the brief side) to an e-mail I wrote him when Braid split up, stoopid fan-boy that I am. And I kind of like buying records which Bob is on because he has a hard time making crappy music. Friction = fun. Braid = awesome. The City on Film = super nice.

Neither of the two songs on here are quite up to the standard of the amazing "Portland Maine and the Pouring Rain" off of the Kind of Like Spitting split, but they still have their own individual appeal. "Anticlimatic" is chirpy and jangly, and I can't help but think of a Braid or Promise Ring song done acousticly. Lovely.

Flip-side "Blue Vegas" is equally soothing and pleasant, at least until Bob gets a touch of the "Tim Kinsella's" near the end and the song kind of loses it's direction whilst Bob loses his voice. But I always preferred imperfect to perfect anyway.

Ya know, a City on Film album would so be a late night thing of beauty. For now, I'll make do with this.
