This here band hails from California, but I am unable to divulge any additional info. They have two songs on this 7" which a lazy sod such as myself would loosely categorise as emo. They also have an insert explaining the songs which some people might find a tad pretentious, but I'll leave it up to you to make that decision.

The lyrics for each track are about a musician (Brian Wilson) and an actress (Clara Bow), and "Musician" is up first. It fills it's side with that kind of wandering / meandering emo, subdued vocals and instrumentation that is forever building up and creating tension. The vocals move between sung, talked (these parts seriously remind me of the Ethel Meserve song 'Ina'), and screamed. Towards the end of the song the out-pourings get more explosive and crash off each other to great effect, then it mellows out for the finish. I like this track a lot.

On the flip we have "Actress", the bass on the minimal intro totally invokes Indian Summer. This is another long song that works it's way between soft and subtle melodies that gently plod along, hinting at the explosion to come. The vocals build up and it gets more intricate and noisy towards the end when it goes screamy and desperate.

This is a great 7". I think these guys will really appeal to anyone who likes stuff like Ethel Meserve or Indian Summer, totally. I want to hear more.
