Just as Minneapolis' contribution to kick-ass music seems to get beyond Dillinger Four, tradgedy befalls. Caddy Blindside broke up very recently, which is shitty news to say the least. The good news is that they left on a high note.

These Liquid Lungs is an exceptional record, and CBS were an exceptional band. As their bio says, they are "too intense to be pop, too pop to be hardcore and too catchy to be indie". This could not be said any clearer, and it is that "not quite right" vibe that makes them so intreguing. That and their great songs.

This isn't too different from some of their old stuff. There's a couple mellow ones, some rocking ones and some middle of the road ones. But despite the inherant differences between them, they all fit on the same album and offer a consistent and continuitous listening experience.

Poppy, loud, off kilter and intelligant music, that rocks. All the ingredients for a decent record. And then some.
