“Shock City Maverick” is banging hip-hop with beats bigger than the drummer of Medulla Nocte. It flows a lot better than anything I’ve heard from Beans, and his slightly left of centre (but still fairly straight hip-hop) beats and production sound better than ever. The instrumental track, “you’re dead lets disco”, with the church bells sounds amazing and makes his sometimes semi-retro rap sound much more up to date. The great production is what really makes this new one stand out, and if you whack this up full blast it doesn’t just stand out if smacks you right in the face.
