Eight tracks’ worth of scrappy emo-hardcore along the lines of Current or Spirit Assembly, all punchy overdriven chords, ringing bass and strained yells that teeter on just the right side of chaotic. Songs are sometimes personal, sometimes political and tend toward a healthy disdain for all the silly, pointless crap that has our scene in a stranglehold, with shit-talking, infighting and style over substance nonsense all suffering ‘neath the weight of these Canucks’ righteous ire. It’s refreshing to see a band railing against it rather than join the fray and auction off their test presses before they’ve even played a show, so bravo indeed for bands like Beaumont Hamel, for fighting the good fight and playing music you can pin your hopes on for once.
