Audion let rip with another great Spectral Sound 12”. Apparently Audion is Matthew Dear and if you know his stuff you won't be surprised to know it's good stuff. The first track is a pretty typical techno track with pounding beats and a synth sound that left me feeling claustrophobic. Personally I found “The Pong” a bit boring, just sounds like a typical Josh Wink track or even Laurent Garnier when he’s not being so dark. “Your place or mine” on the b-side is a bit more interesting. It snoops along in an unusual electro style that jumps around in weird places, but it’s the final cut that really rips. “The dog” is totally great, not life changing but pretty fucking great nonetheless. The vocal samples are pretty off the wall and the bubbling synth that emerges towards the end is totally mint. This isn’t quite as enjoyable as the Matthew Dear “dog days” 12” or that new one by Broker/Dealer but it still rips!
