Egon provide a wealth of complexity over the course of 50 minutes. Strip away the extremities and you'd be left with a melodic rock band. However, there is a little more to Egon than that simple tag entails. Complex guitar rhythms entwine with persistent drumming, an odd driving force that alternates between states of mesmerism and, unfortunately, tedium. Its like Deep Elm emo-rock angling for an additional 'math' prefix.

To be honest I'm sure Egon would appeal to a lot of people and when they play songs such as 'The Blameless Ones' they've got my toe tapping and my attention focused. But over the course of fifty minutes my concentration has wandered too many times to be able to really recommend this CD.
