The Budda Cakes. Yes. That is the name of the band. I have sometimes sat around and pondered that it is quite hard to come up with a good band name. I presume the Budda Cakes never considered that to be true, and they probably think it is exceptionally easy to come up with a good band name. If they didn't, then they wouldn't have selected a monicker so perfectly bad as... the Budda Cakes. Then again maybe they decided to pick a name to make you concentrate solely on that rather than some of the dodgy music that they make instead. Wow. The first song is playing and it is magnificently awful. Its such a mess. The first track is all over the shop, a bizarre mish-mash of indie grunge and something else that I can't quite put my finger on. Its followed by an acoustic ramble that I shall skip over, and then track 3, well, I have no idea what is going on here. Some people clap and a guy sings like someone has been kicking him in the nuts all day. The 4th and 5th tracks are actually not bad! They take a stab at a kind of 60s-ish pop at times, with choruses that are a bit like Fountains of Wayne or something. Track 5 is a nice and drifty indie track that suits Sunday afternoons. I was quite surprised by this one.

Its like this cd was made by 2 different bands - 2 of the first 3 tracks were recorded by some guys who don't bother doing things like revising for exams, they just turn up on the day and hope that it works out. It doesn't work out. These 2 tracks are dire. The rest though, is ok! Especially the poppy stuff. Man. I am pretty confused right now.
