Whoever knew Insolito were still alive and kicking, eh? First that Circle X reissue and now this, an all-over-the-place exhumation from down under that's impossible to slot into any one pre-defined niche. Sure, there are elements of bands like Swell Maps and Pere Ubu pecking around the place, but they're swirling amid a delirious mix of primitive electronics, random sax honks, muddled vocals and clanking percussion that boils the synapses and sets the dial somewhere between antsy desperation and shit-daubing playfulness. Not content with merely being scatty, smart and addled as all fuck, an extra layer of confusion is added when you consider the fact that this stuff is more than three decades old; these two singles having pre-empted dozens of noisemongering, sound-splicing 'trailblazers' by a few good licks and proving once again that there's maybe nothing new under the sun after all.
