I wasn’t too sure what to expect from this EP from this 3-piece from Austin, Texas. The opening track is kind of grungy, rock music. It sounds like a messy Foo Fighters and they get a bit more indie rock at times too. The singer has a bit of a drawl but also lapses into Elvis Costello mode occasionally particularly on “First Day Off” which has something of a 70s vibe to it. I’m finding that it all teeters on the brink of pub rock at times though and fails to really grab my attention. That is, until the final song, “House Of The Clean”, where they slow things down. There is a very nice stoner rock riff on this one and it’s more of a slow-burning 90s rock song. It’s pretty good and seems to be the type of thing this band might be quite good at.
