I am wearing a Solar Halo at this very moment - it makes me look like someone from a Ready-Brek advert from the nineties.

This music has plenty of “Go” to it, but not very much “Get-up,” which I think is the point. The general muddiness of everything is, I think, if not studied, then certainly intentional, these dudes can play their instruments very well indeed but they’re not all that keen to let you know that.

Six tracks of Psych-Sludge-Metal thunder along with little obvious interest in their overall destination, but with a keen eye trained toward the vast, uncharted landscapes through which they are rolling. Occasional melodic blurts from a strong-throated lady give the impression of someone fighting for their life against the inexorable crashing of enormous drums which threatens to eat them whole.

Two of the people involved here are Horseback-related and that band’s “Invisible Mountain” album is one of the best things I’ve heard in the last few years. Get this if you got that and you won’t get got.
